She didn't expect this.
Jaia had expected something similar to alcohol; strong and searing to the throat, followed by what she assumed would be a slight dizzy and complacent state.
But this? This was miles ahead of that.
As soon as the blue liquid hit her tongue, she was surprised. Sweet like berries, it slid down her throat as easily as water, its pleasant taste inviting and cool. She was so nervous she was shaking, and Jaia felt Obi Wan's hand grasp her own tightly as he downed the strange liquid himself. The action surprised her, but she wasn't thinking too hard about it; she squeezed his hand, and Obi Wan and Jaia were shoved, ushered into the casino before they could start to feel the effects.
She nearly fell against him as they stumbled into the open casino, her head falling to his chest. Music was blaring, lights were shining, and game tables were roaring with laughter. Obi Wan and Jaia gawked at each other with wide, expecting eyes, as they held their hands tightly.
She thought the effects might have already taken their toll, but a sudden warm rush spread over her, causing Jaia's eyes to shut.
Euphoria. Jaia fell against Obi Wan, her head spinning just slightly as she was overwhelmed with the feeling. Her entire body felt light, free, and energetic. And all she wanted- all she needed- was in front of her.
Her eyes scanned over the casino, it's bright lights and games, and she found herself in utter disbelief and awe. She would enjoy her time here. She would participate and she would-
Focus.
Jaia's warning to herself only lasted a moment, her eyes flashing up into Obi Wan's. Within his pupils, Jaia could see the same bliss, the same confusion. He blinked harshly, trying to keep himself from giving into whatever Jaia was also feeling, but the fight was harsher than he had expected.
"It's okay," Jaia managed to breathe, trying to reach him in whatever way possible. Obey. The voice wasn't going away. Listen. Enjoy. Obey. Why did people come here willingly?
Maybe if they just stayed a little while-
Obi Wan was struggling as much as she was- his lips parted and his breath heavy as he tried to compose whatever sense of self he had within him. It took a moment, but Jaia realized his hand had been squeezing hers just as hard as she was holding his.
"This- uh-," he stuttered, another flash of bliss overtaking him, "this must be what force compelling feels like."
"I hardly think that's the best thing to worry about right now," Jaia gasped, her head lifting itself from Obi Wan's chest.
"I might as well get some research out of this," he managed to choke, looking down at Jaia as they locked eyes. That was a mistake.
"You look so good," Jaia rambled, her mind leading her lips before she could stop it. It was true, she enjoyed looking at Obi Wan now just as much, if not more than she enjoyed it when he was in his robes. "Let's go dance," she pulled him towards her, Obi Wan's dizzy expression barely rejecting her, and instead, falling into the idea himself.
"We should-," he started, "We need to-," he trailed off, losing his words for a moment. "No. No." A flash of recognition danced in his eyes, and Obi Wan acted immediately, pulling Jaia into a clearing outside of the main hall of the Casino, a small hallway empty of patrons. "We have work to do, Jaia."
"Work?" Jaia sighed with a giggle, "Oh... you meant the work I'm gonna do to you later."
Obi Wan's eyes shut, and he took a breath, trying to still his temptation. "Jaia, please, you're not making this easier, please try to-,"
