The doorbell rang. Samuel opened the front door. His heart skipped a beat when a police officer stood on his doorstep.

“Samuel?” Asked the police officer.

  Samuel nodded slowly.

The officer handed him an envelope with his name on the back. Confused, Samuel took the letter and looked up at the police. The officer gave a farewell nod and left in his police car. Samuel closed the front door; he couldn’t help his curiosity as he tore the envelope and snatched the letter inside it. He opened it and read it:

Hello Sam. It’s me, Lucy. By the time you get this I would be dead. I thought it wouldn’t be fair to leave you hanging. You had a lot of questions after all and it’s best to hear the story from me than the edited version you’d probably hear on the news. So, here goes nothing. I’ll make it brief since I don’t have time now writing the details. Believe it or not, this is the truth. All of it.
I’ll go in chronological order.
Before my mother got married, she found her mother, my grandmother, doing witchcraft in their attic. It turns out that my grandmother used black magic to get to my grandfather. The family was never happy. Grandmother used to cut mommy’s wrists and beat her up, granddad didn’t do anything about it. Grandmother cursed mother for cracking her secret, she cursed her with an unhappy life.
The curse didn’t affect her till my dad left when me and Janet were ten years old, without a trace. Mom got depressed, then she got angry and turned to us to let her anger out. She cut our wrists, beat us up and she didn’t care for us as how a mother should. We didn’t do anything about it because we thought we deserved it and weren’t there when mom needed us the most. We tried to love her since that was what our mother was lacking but it never worked.
We were being abused both in school and at home. As a little kid, I think at twelve, me and my sister established that we could do things. Jason was a friend of ours in our previous school, but like everyone else he freaked out when he found out about our secret life. He started to piss us off, so something clicked and we killed him without even touching him. Yes. We slashed his body and slit his skin with just staring at him. We didn’t mean to, but it happened. And he died. The police never arrested us because they had no evidence.
We moved to a complete different neighbourhood to start over. We came to this school we are now, hoping to find friends and have a different life. But things didn’t change. Rumours got here and everyone still hated us. Me and Janet had had enough. So we killed mom, and then killed ourselves. I’m sorry to say this so bluntly and to shock you like this, but I really didn’t want the same things that happened to Jason to happen to you. So we tried to keep our distance. We sent a letter to Jason’s mom who wanted us dead a long time ago, and we told her that we killed him. We wrote a letter for the public, but I doubt they would believe us or announce what we said. As long as some people know the truth, I’m happy.
You must be thinking that we’re crazy aren’t you? Well that’s okay, because I know you don’t understand our situation. How could you possibly understand? We are different, different in a bad way, cursed as you might say. That’s why we died, because we knew we didn’t belong here. All we had was each other, and that was all we needed really.
No one lives forever, see you on the other side… soon ;)
Love Lucy and Janet.

Samuel ran to the TV to see that the twins were right. They did commit suicide at the young age of sixteen, and the news didn’t say anything about their abilities; all they said was that they were abused at home and school, and they confessed in killing their mother and the boy from the lost case, Jason.
Samuel fell to his knees. He couldn’t believe it.
