Flashbacks of yesterday's conversation with Lucy haunted Samuel. He stayed up the night trying to figure out what Lucy meant by being afraid of herself and not really from other people? Was she able to do certain things she had no control over? Could something like that even be possible?

"Did we hurt him? I don't even know." He shut his eyes and quickly put his hand to his pounding head. It was a Saturday night and his whole family had been sleeping except him. His eyes adjusted to the darkness in his bedroom. The window was half open with the curtains dancing slowly in the cold breeze allowing the moonlight to get in, the whole atmosphere made Samuel's thoughts a little bit more thrilling.

Samuel sighed and turned to his little desk by his bed and he checked the time.

1:37 am.

He sighed again, annoyed. He quietly made his way out of his bed and dragged himself downstairs. He lazily put on his hoodie and sneakers and exited the house, making sure the front door didn't slam. With the twins constantly popping up in his mind, he realised what was growing more and more inside him was fear. Fear? Why would he be afraid? They seemed timid and weak in many aspects, he couldn't imagine them winning a physical fight.

Oblivious to where he was going, he finally realised he had made his way to the field near his house. He opened the gate and entered the empty patch of green land. The neighborhood was quiet, not a soul walked by. The moon was full and easily seen in the dark sky. Samuel  looked across the field, but a figure in the distance that sat on the bench caught his attention. He squinted his eyes to see better, or perhaps zoom in with his eyes if possible, but the darkness didn't help. He walked closer to the person who sat on the bench. The closer he got, the more he could see: The person seemed to be a girl, sitting crossed legged on the bench in her patterned PJs with a thick coat as she leaned back and looked up at the stars, her head resting on the bench. He stopped in his tracks when he found out it was one of the twins. He searched for the beauty spot to immediately identify who it was but it still couldn't be easily seen in this distance and in this darkness.

He felt his stomach turn and blood to gather in his face. Fear? He wanted to turn but the twin noticed him and he froze in his place. She looked at him expressionless, but he stared at her with wide eyes like as if he feared that she'd take his life. A moment passed, and they continued to stare at each other with that expression.

"I-I'm sorry." Samuel finally said, "I didn't know it was you."

The twin sighed and looked down at the grass floor sadly. Samuel relaxed a bit, but he still couldn't guess which twin she was.

"Which one are you?" He asked.

She looked up at him again, her eyes twinkled a little bit in the little light the moon gave, her skin was pale and smooth, making her look so delicate and fragile.

"Don't you get it?" She said, "do you ever get it?"

"Listen." Samuel sighed, "I didn't come here to hear another one of your lectures. I just came here because I couldn't sleep. I guess you couldn't either. I didn't realise you lived so close..."

Without double thinking, Samuel casually sat next to her and looked up at the stars. A moment of awkward silence passed, until the twin finally broke the silence.

"Is this why you came to our high school?"

"Because I moved and all? You're correct."

She looked down at her fingers nervously, "what I said yesterday." She said slowly, "didn't it scare you?"

Samuel looked at her, he noticed the beauty spot on top of her eyebrow to confirm that she was Lucy. "I'm not gonna lie." He said, "it did scare me a little. But I still don't get it."

Lucy rolled her eyes.

"I mean, what do you mean that you're afraid of what you're capable of? What are you capable of? And what happened to that boy-"

"You ask a lot of questions!" Lucy snapped. She shot her angry face away and then took a deep breath to calm herself down, "you just need to stay away from subjects that have nothing to do with you. Stop putting your nose in our business."

Samuel frowned, "then don't tell me what to do if you won't tell me the real reason behind it."

Lucy shook her head, "that would only make things worse."

"At least I would know why I'm scared of you or need to avoid you." Samuel folded his arms behind his head and looked back at the stars again.

"If I tell you the reason, then you'll go through the same stages as he did."

"He?"

"The boy. At first, he was a friend, then he got close, then he got scared, then he started to run away, then he suffered. You'll do the same."

Samuel narrowed his eyes, "people are different you know, they have different ways of dealing with tough situations."

"In that case, continue with what you're doing now and we'll see how well you'll handle your situation."

Samuel looked at her in misbelief, "are you threatening me?"

"How else am I going to get you to stay away, you can't get it through your head!"

Samuel narrowed his eyes at her but Lucy avoided eye contact, "what's so special about you and you're mean sister anyway?"

"Don't call her that." She defended, "I know she comes across as hard and not easy to approach, but she's really caring and is just doing this to protect both of us."

"From what though?"

Lucy didn't answer.

"You never answer me!" Samuel whined, "God, there's so many questions and possibilities formed in my head, it's driving me insane, just clarify it!"

Lucy stood up quickly, her temper running low, "Sam... trust me, being insane is way better than seeing what we can do. And if you want to see for yourself, then continue with what you're doing now, but if you love yourself and your family, please do them and me a favor and stay away." Lucy looked at him, her eyes were filled with tears that didn't drip down yet. Her expression threw shivers down his spine, "just don't tell us we didn't warn you... I..."

"L-Lucy-"

"I just don't want you to end up like him!" She blurted. Lucy turned and ran away, Samuel stayed still and watched her go. His expression was surprisingly calm and he turned his gaze back to the stars when Lucy was no longer in sight.

"Challenge accepted." He said to himself.
