24: Wen Ning arrives at Cloud Recesses.

Wei Ying felt his heart ache for what he knew was coming ... 

Lan Zhan was going to call him disgusting ... 

Push him away ... 

Walk away from him ... 

Never talk to him again .... 

He then felt the blood pain rise to just below that which would make him cough it up. Those fingers around his arms tightened just a little bit too tight before loosening. When Lan Zhan finally spoke, Wei Ying felt his own body begin to tremble in fear.

'Do you mean what you just said ... are those words true ...'

'Did you not swear to always believe ...' Wei Ying never got to finish his words as Lan Zhan let go of his arms then a hand lifted his head and suddenly Lan Zhan's lips were on his taking his breath away with a passionate kiss. He willingly let Lan Zhan take control of his mouth, for as long as he wished and for the first time in years, he felt his body and heart begin to ease. However, he realised that something deep inside still doubted and held itself back form Lan Zhan.

Lan Zhan wanted to hold Wei Ying tighter against his body but he restrained himself and that made his body tremble. He knew doing that would cause Wei Ying pain as his body was just so wasted away. He had to be as gentle as he could be.

Every movement of Lan Zhan's lips and tongue seemed to be healing something deep inside Wei Ying's heart. He loves me! Zhan really loves me! His heart kicked up into a higher rate when Lan Zhan gently bit his bottom lip before returning to devouring his mouth. Even though he moaned, the hand cupping the back of his head refused to let him move even a hairs breath away ... as if he would ever want to do that now. It shocked Wei Ying that this man could be so powerful as to contain him utterly but gentle enough to not hurt his delicate body.

Lan Zhan finally broke the kiss and looked lovingly at the man in his arms as Wei Ying blushed and panted.

Sudden fear rose in Wei Ying again. 'Lan Zhan .... Please .... Say the words ... I need to hear your thoughts ...... I need the truth........'

'Wei Ying, the truth is, I am in love with you and have been so since I watched you climbing into the Cloud Recesses that first time. The cheeky smile and loud laughter drew me in and since then I have been chasing after you just hoping you may one day come to love me in the same way. I never realised how cold, dark and utterly empty my life was until you lit it up with your presence. In the cave when you asked if I liked that woman ... I .... All I could think was I have fallen in love with a blind idiot. How can he not see the only one I look at is him? The only one I care about is him? The only person I will die to protect ... is him? Even if you only ever looked at me as a friend, I was willing to stay by your side for the rest of my life ... and that vile .... He broke us ... tore us apart with some simple little talisman's. What's worse is, he tore your heart out.' he stroked Wei Ying's cheek and wiped the tears away. 'Do you want more truth?'

'Hmn.' He lightly nodded his head.

'Wei Ying ... hearing you say you love me ... damn it all ... marry me so I can be with you for the rest of our lives.'

'Have you forgotten we are both men ... we can't marry ...'

'I will wear red robes with you and prostrate three times before my ancestors even if no one wants to recognise us as a married couple. I will never marry anyone if I am not allowed to marry you.'

'I really do not think your family will ever permit such a thing to happen in your ancestral hall.' He again gave just a singe reason ..... even though the biggest reason for not marrying this man stayed locked deep in his heart.
