Lan Zhan gently lowered his sleeping Wei Ying to the bed then carefully stood up so he didn't wake him. He hurriedly washed himself then dressing then sat on the side of the bed and tended to the injuries under Wei Ying's eyes.
'My Ying ... I wish I had been there for you for even one day ... I'm sorry ... sorry.' He felt the tears rolling down his cheeks as he gently applied the ointment to the wounds. He then washed and changed his lover ... into a set of his GusuLan Sect robes that his brother had placed in the room in case he woke. He lifted Wei Ying to lean against his chest removed the red ribbon from his hair then brushed it until it was as smooth as it would get then reached over and set about using the hair treatment before removing his white forehead ribbon, placing both the red and white into Wei Yings hair.
After lowering him back to the bed he stroked that wasted cheek as internally he pictured Wei Ying healthy, smiling, laughing as he walked backwards and chatted about anything that came to his mind.
'That is what I want again Wei Ying ... you, teasing me, running from stall to stall looking at everything, fighting beside me, caring about me, beside me for the rest of our lives. I will never leave your side now and you will be mine for the rest of my life.' He leant in and kissed those lips he loved.
Lan Zhan finally turned his attention to the mask, he picked up the mask and looked at the inside ... right were the wounds were on Wei Ying's cheeks were patches of material that looked like it had been constantly wet ... and stained with blood. Wei Ying, why would you place this material here if it was causing you so much discomfort and rubbing your cheek bones so much? He sighed deeply as he placed the mask and gloves in a cupboard, then sat right by the bed and played their song hoping he could hear it deep in his sleep. He has not played this song for over two and a half years.
At nine am, one of the healers entered the room and stopped when he saw Wei WuXian was the one in the bed and HanGuang-Jun was sitting on the floor right by his head playing a healing melody he had never heard before. Even as Lan Zhan continued to play, he did everything he could for Wei Ying, with a pair of golden eyes glaring at him every time he touched Wei Ying, but told the man by the bed that it would take weeks if not months for Wei Ying to heal totally.
'You must not force him to over eat thinking that will make the weight suddenly be regained. A set menu will be delivered and he should try to eat all of it but if he can't, that's fine. There will be no spicy meals as I really do not think his stomach will be able to stand it. Also, I suggest he sits in the sunshine everyday as I would say he is lacking in that area. He is so pale I can see the veins ...' he stopped at the pained look on Lan Zhan's face. 'Just take him outside somewhere nice and quiet for a few hours a day. Dappled sunlight might be best at first but not for a few days, he needs total rest.'
'Cold pool for healing?'
'Once a day ... preferably in the evening then wrap him up and keep him warm after that. We all know that when the sun is setting the water is at its peak of healing. I will advise everyone that they are to stay away until you both finish. Wei WuXian will not want people staring at him like this.'
'Very well ... Do everything you can but from now on, you will have to come to his rooms as I will go there with him now.'
'The one ...'
'Yes.' Lan Zhan didn't wait any longer; he took the mask and gloves from the cupboard and placed them on Wei Ying's lap then, with the blanket wrapped securely around him and took him to their new home. After placing him in the bed and placing the other blanket over him, he gently kissed him. 'We are home Ying.'
'Hm.'
Later when the meals arrived, Lan Zhan first woke Wei Ying just enough to feed him rice porridge and the healing potion; he knew to be made by his brother, and then let him fall asleep. In the evening, an hour before their meals arrived, Lan Zhan again wrapped Wei Ying in a thick blanket and carried him down to the cold pool then undressed him. As he carried him into the water Wei Ying woke up a little and rested his head on Lan Zhan's chest.
'C.cold.'
'I know but it will help you heal faster. Are you able to meditate or not?'
'Try ....'
'It's alright, just rest and soak up the aura of the pool.'
'Okay.' He sighed and opened himself up the healing aura with the knowledge that he now wanted to get better.
'Is it alright if I ask you something while we are here?'
'Hm.'
'Why would you put material in the mask when it was only hurting you?'
'No ... when I got the mask, I used the mask to cover the fact that the tears almost never stopped. The tears was softening the skin and the rubbing of the mask caused the sores and it really hurt so I placed material inside ... but it needed to be changed at least once a week.' He felt himself pulled into Lan Zhan's arms and his hand moved slowly up and down his back. 'I missed you so much ... and I will admit ... I have always loved your scent. It relaxes me more than anything.' Wei Ying mumbled before he fell asleep with his face in Lan Zhan's neck.
Before it became too much for Wei Ying in his weakened state, Lan Zhan took him from the water and dried him with cloths he brought, then he dressed him before wrapping him up again in the blanket and carried him back to his bed.
A few days later Wei Ying opened his eyes as Lan Zhan kissed him lightly only to blink in surprise. 'Lan Zhan ... I .... It's a bunny.' He stopped himself from squealing in delight at the dozen or so black rabbits and white rabbits that hopped up to them.
'I was told that you need light sunlight everyday, so I brought you to the rabbits.'
'Bunnies ... so cute.' He went to crawl over to the nearest one but Lan Zhan held him firm with one arm and his free hand reached out and picked one of the white rabbits then placed it in his arms. 'Oh Lan Zhan ... Lan Zhan ... look at this. He isn't trying to get away form me.' He grinned up at Lan Zhan.
'Looks like they missed you also.' He watched Wei Ying give all of his attention to the little rabbit in his arms for a full two minutes before he broke. 'Here.' He put the rabbit back with its family.
'Ah Lan Zhan ...' he got no further as the man kissed him. 'Oh I see.' He giggled happily. 'You are jealous of me giving the bunnies all of my attention and me not giving you any.' He wrapped his arms around the mans neck. 'Then come here my Lan Zhan and I will give you some personal attention.' Just as he was about to kiss him, joyous voices interrupted them.
'Master Wei.' A group of boys voices said in unison.
'Hmm.' Lan Zhan sounded rather upset at being interrupted but suppressed the urge to tell them to leave.
'Such poor timing. I was going to pet you, stroke your back and play with your ears.' He whispered into Lan Zhan's ears only to be rewarded with bright red ears and a sideways glance at the boys as they came running. 'Don't be mean to them.'
'If you say so.'
Wei Yings' heart melted as Lan Zhan seemed willing to do what he said at almost any time. He looked over to see just who was coming towards them. It was SiZhui, JingYi and Jin Ling.
'Master Wei ...' SiZhui said with a huge smile only to suddenly stop when he finally got a good look at him. 'No.' without thinking he threw himself at the couple and wrapped his arms around them as tears flowed and loud sobs escaped.
Wei Ying was taken back as the junior sobbed in his arms. 'It's alright SiZhui. I will get better.'
