Two weeks later, after the Wen Sect had once again been disbanded, but this time for good, Lan Ying and Lan Zhan sat in the hall with XiChen and Master Lan.
'Are you ready?' Lan Zhan asked gently as he watched his husband closely.
'Yes ....'
'Tell me to stop and I will.'
'Only go for as long as you can handle it ... do not force yourself to keep going.' He watched Master Lan and XiChen place a hand on his husbands shoulders so they could also witness his life. He closed his eyes and let them into his mind at the point of the temple.
Lan Zhan used a deeper form of Empathy so they could tell how Lan Ying felt during the Empathy.
They travelled through his pain of the temple, waking up a hostage, being thrown away and ... throwing up blood when far enough away. They watched as he walked through his days as tears rolled from his eyes almost none stop. They watched him place on the mask for the first time .... They watched everything ....
It took them almost four hours to watch everything. Even when his brother and uncle told him to stop, Lan Zhan just kept going.
Lan Ying woke with arms tightly wrapped around him and soft breathing on his forehead. He looked up to find Lan Zhan sleeping without letting him go. But what shocked him the most was the tears that rolled from those sleeping eyes.
'Lan Zhan ...' he reached up and wiped a tear away even as those eyes opened and looked at him. 'I should not have said yes if ... I'm so sorry.' He was stopped with a kiss.
'I needed to see and so did brother and uncle. I .... Don't know ..... What to say .....'
'You don't need to say anything.'
'We went through everything so ... take as long as you need, but would you tell me how you kept yourself from letting the blood out ... you kept in inside until you were at a distance.'
'I had too ....'
'It could have harmed you ... or killed you.' He then moved Lan Ying back just enough to place the palm of his hand on his wife's chest. 'Mine.' But then he took his wife's hand and placed it on his chest. 'Your's.' he said it softly.
'Mine.' Lan Ying smiled softly hoping to make him calm down a little then did the same; taking his husbands hand and placing it back on his chest. 'Your's .... for life.'
'Hungry, thirsty?'
'Not much ...' before he said anything else, Lan Zhan was up from the bed and putting on his outer robes. 'Zhan?'
'I will go and get you something to eat and drink ... Emperors smile?'
'No thank you. I seem to have lost the taste for it and ... nothing spicy please, just plain foods would be great.' To this request he noted a pained look rise in his eyes. 'It's alright ... maybe sometime I will try some again ... but I'm just not interested in it at the moment.' He smiled then received a kiss from Lan Zhan then he was alone in the room. 'Oh Zhan ... I never should have let you read me ...' a light knock interrupted him.
'Hello Uncle Ying, may we come in?'
'Of course.' He watched as not just Jin Ling and their son entered ... but his whole class.
'I told them they should not all come with me but ... they insisted.' He smiled when Lan Ying giggled happily.
'Don't worry, Lan Zhan has gone to get me something to eat and drink.'
'We know.' One of the students said.
'We waited for him to leave before coming in.' Jin Ling smirked happily.
'So you are all learning very well.' He smiled happily.
'Mother Ying ... we have all heard that they preformed an Empathy on you and ... it was really bad.'
'I really should not have agreed.'
'Don't say that.' SiZhui reached out and took his hand. 'If we do not see what we caused ... how can we Change?'
'It was not your fault ... it was theirs ... they came up with those talismans and that worm handed out the robes. His only thought was to save his own life.' He sighed. 'Have you all heard about the Wen Sect being broken for good?'
'Yes.'
'My only sorrow for that is your Uncle Ning.'
'He agreed to it being done. He was really upset at what they did and at the moment he has gone off to do some night hunting.'
'Everyone, can I have your attention for a moment.' Lan Ying waited until every set of eyes were turned to him. 'I want you all to remember that not ever member of the Wen Sect was bad. Those I saved and lived with in the Burial Mounds were ... they really were the best. Still there will be some of the Wens from now that are just as good so don't ever paint them all with the same brush. Su She came from here and he is nothing like the rest of you.'
'Yes Master Lan.' They all said then stopped.
'Well, that will be awkward if he hears it.' Lan Ying giggled. 'How about ....'
'Master Ying.' SiZhui said and everyone agreed.
'So, tell me about your training and any troubles you are having.' Lan Ying said with a smile.
Deep in the forest Wen Ning ran fast chasing a group of fierce corpses, he needed to do something, and he needed to do it now. Those years he was not able to be with Lan Ying and he has suffered deeply. The Wens tried to kill him, marry Second Young Master Lan to some female ... he had to rip something apart and the best thing was fierce corpses.
He grabbed the slowest and thrust his hand through its body and tore it in two then while still running, threw both parts away.
Time after time, he destroyed the fierce corpses as soon as he laid his hand on it.
Finally he stopped when the last one was dead ... but he felt no better.
