Chapter 36

Waiting inside the bathroom was a tuff time for Yunlan. He stayed there for 10 - 15 minutes but it felt like he has been in there for hours and hours. He slowly opened the door to know the situation outside and was shocked to see the living room was engulfed in fire.

Now he panicked he cannot stay here. If the fire reached the kitchen, there are gas stoves there might be a explosion and he might not survive. He needed to get out of the cabin. He needed to run away. He touched his baby bump and caressed it. He needed to keep his pup safe, he cannot lose hope. He needed to do this of his pup, their pup. Shen wei would be devastated if he loses both his mate and pup. Yunlan could not see his mate breaking apart by their deaths.
Determined to escape, he walked into the bedroom and grabbed some blankets and covered himself and his baby bump. He walked back into the bathroom as he saw another door leading outside.

He opened another door which was inside the bathroom and came into a open space, which had outdoor jacuzzi. The place was beautiful, if only he could use it. But he could not day dream now, he needed to escape from this nightmare first.

He saw stairs leading outside from this jacuzzi. The path led deep into the forest, that side had less fire engulfed. So he tightened the blankets around him and followed the path covering his mouth.

As he was walking by he heard his mate's voice "YUNLANNNNN'.

I immediately turned around looking for my mate in between the flames. "WEI! WEI! I AM HERE"

Shen wei who was frantically searching for Yunlan around the house heard his mate's calling and ran towards the voice. He saw someone standing a far away blankets fully covered.

"Yunlan...is that you? Are you okay?"

"Wei....Wei....I am here...help me...please" Yunlan sobbed seeing his mate in front of him.

"Baby...stay there don't move, I am coming to get you"

But on the path there were fallen trees blocking his path which were covered in flames. There was no other way to get near his mate as the fire was spreading rapidly.
Shen wei took a few steps backwards and ran forward with confidence and jumped through the flames to reach his mate.
Yunlan immediately moved forward and used the blanket on Shen wei to blow out the flames that caught him. Shen wei was slightly burnt while jumping through the flames but was still safe.

Shen wei immediately pulled Yunlan to his embrace and hugged him tightly "Thank god...you are okay...you are fine....you are safe...you are in my arms...I was so scared Yunlan....I thought I lost you"

"I know Wei....I know....I had lost hope when I was stuck inside the cabin with flames dancing around. But I thought about you and our pup, with determination to escape I came out of the cabin safely"

"Pup....how is the pup...is it okay?...are you hurt anywhere"

"No Wei...I am fine...we are fine...dont worry".

Yunlan hugged Shen wei. As they were in their own world. Suddenly they heard a crack and creak sound from above, when they turned upwards to look for the source of the noise. They saw a thick tree branch break and fall down right above them.
Shen wei was quick enough to slowly push Yunlan out of the way and Yunlan fell on the ground lightly. But Shen wei could not escape and the tree branch fell right on top of him trapping him.

Yunlan scurried and ran towards Wei kneeling down and trying to remove the tree branch from his mate. Yunlan was flowing with streams of tears by now Seeing his mate in pain was unbearable. Shen wei screamed in pain when he felt the tree fall on him pinning him down. He saw Yunlan panicking and crying. He tried to push up the tree but it was too heavy for him.
Then they heard the sirens.
