I'm lying here beside you.
I'm also a million miles away.
But it doesn't matter
Because I know you'll still be there when I get back.
One arm around me
One behind your head.
Eyelashes stroking your cheeks.
The rise and fall of your chest like the tides
Away from the blood and the shit and the boredom of everyday life,
It's hard to imagine any reason to leave.
It's the gritty sticky tarmac of my heart
That you've walked across.
Leaving your handprints and footprints
Your words, the very essence of you.
And its since dried, solidified.
Leaving those marks that you made
Forever imprinted on me.
