•Shazam!
Instantaneous
But not asked for
A moment in time
I don't have the gas for
That fuel evaporated like the marriage
My parents so
Desperately
Grasped forShazam!
Coming of age and
Far too soon, man
I really didn't have a choice
Big sisters hide little eyes
How many nights turned into
Little white liesShazam!
A hero to whom
Unaware of who I was protecting
Mothers are the ones to hold
But ours was getting old and simply
Too caught up in whatever happened
Behind the closed doors of her mind
I know she didn't ask for thisShazam!
I should have
I know I should have
Walked my sister to the door
But my bitterness led me away
And boy, that was the day
My sister saw a sorry sight
And yes, when my phone rang
I was in the shower but I
Later left within the hour
A hospital trip I wasn't prepared for
To see the woman I'd been so, so scared forShazam!
Have you ever seen
A person come undone
I endured and it wasn't fun
Non-responsive, but boy did she try
A certain deranged look in her eye
She stared through me
My mom looked past like she never knew me
I wish I could forgetShazam!
I wish my power
Came from such a word
But it solely means
Growing up too fast
Everything behind the scenes
I was old before I was young
Do you know what I meanShazam!
So many lessons
I've yet to learn
But I'm ahead of the game
If life is a curve
I strive to be better than how I was raised
Frankly, I'll work for the rest of my days
Ensuring a better world and
The sanctity of thoughts not yet began-ch
this is an old piece i found
