The Affection of Natsu and Lucy

Chapter 19: Confession

The sound of our feet were silent and polite, slowly stepping over little twigs and dirt. Natsu’s warm yet really dirty hand wrapped around mine, tugging me forward. The forest was complete black by now, only having Natsu’s other hand engulfed in fire, brightening the area. Natsu was walking me home, after all my efforts trying to find him after he ran out of Magnolia town, throwing my hard work to find him, all away.

I let go of Natsu's hand and laid my eyes straight down at the ground. "You don't want me to be hurt?" I mumbled as the sky started to weep. Natsu faintly smiled "Mhm! I don't want you to be hurt, so I have to leave."

He was worried about me. Natsu is worried about me. Though that didn’t make me happy, at all. I understand that he doesn’t want to hurt anyone but...it hurts...it really hurts…                                                                                                                  I stared at the cherry head, his hair that shoots all upwards was drooping downwards. Squeezing my fists, hot fluids coursed down my face and tears mingling with the rain. “Do you understand that I’m hurt even if you do go?” Those words of mine captured Natsu’s attention, he stared at me, wide eyed. Walking towards me, his hand hovering over towards me to comfort me.

Declining his consolation, I slapped his hand off, causing him to flinch, surprised by the sudden slap to his hand. “If you go, things won’t be the same! The guild won’t feel Fairy Tail-like without you Natsu! Fairy Tail isn’t Fairy Tail without you!” I spluttered, tears flooding out, along with the angry rain, hitting Natsu and I, like angry insects.

Natsu lowered his head. “Lucy….”

I cut him off.“Do you not realize how many people love you, Natsu?! How much impact you made on their lives?!” I shouted, I screamed, so much that my knees fell onto the ground with a sharp thud, however, I ignored the throbbing pain within the joints of my legs and the wet, slimy mud smothering on my skin and clothes.

“You’re the one who doesn’t understand, Lucy!”

I looked up, wide eyed, staring at the Natsu looming over me, tears trembling at the corner of his narrowed eyes, seeing the veins pulse on his hand, clenching his fist, crying out. “You don’t understand Lucy! Do you think I just let myself be with you guys when I’m a danger to you all?!”

Standing up, legs wobbling with mud running down my legs, I glared at the cherry head. “You’re not a beast, Natsu! We’ll do something about your dragon transformation. Porlyusica will help too!” With the rain pouring even harder, decreasing the light in Natsu’s hand, I walked forward, grabbing Natsu’s drenched shirt by the front, shaking him.

“Nothing will help me!” Natsu cried out, yanking my hands from his shirt. “Nothing! I’ll become a wild beast in the end!” The pink locks lost their spike, hanging low and some stuck onto Natsu’s face, the clouds thundered, adding suspense to our argument.

“No you won’t!” I denied loudly over the storm, “We’ll do something about it! We’ll do anything in our power to save you Natsu! So please stay with me!” My hair was completely soggy cold, I was completely wet, as if I got out of a shower with my clothes on. The fire in Natsu’s hand burnt out, thanks to the hard rain gushing down. Even though it was pitch black with rain thundering down, I could make out the human shape in front of me. Biting my lip, I charged, pushing Natsu to the wet, muddy ground. “So please…” I continued, with a calmer, softer tone. “Stay with me…”

The dark clouds stopped thundering loudly, the rain turned from a hardcore shower to a soft drizzle, a soft flash glared, revealing Natsu’s face in a few seconds. He was now on the ground, his pink hair mixed in the mud, with me on him, gripping on his shirt, feeling the scales on his skin rub against the side of my hands. I lowered my head to his chest, “I don’t want you to leave…”
