I didn't know the time but by checking the sky from my window I realised it was just the break of dawn. I was energized but still weak from hunger. My tummy gave an angry rumble. Hearing that, the fairies got alarmed and started making squeaky noices. 'Shh...be quite. It's nothing. Stop making a fuss' I said. The fairies were still red in the face but calmed down eventually. 'Why are the fairies making such a scene' I heard someone talk from behind. I turned so fast, I felt my neck crick a bit. Daemeon was standing there wearing a battle armor, sword on his belt and a bow and arrow behind his back. 'Nothing. Nothing at all my...lord.?'
I said quickly almost inaudible. 'Wha- What are you doing here?' I asked. 'I heard screechess, so I just came to check' he said looking at the fairies kindly. The female fairies were swooning at the him and flying to him, handing him small flowers. Then he looked to me and threw something at me and surprisingly I caught it. It was an apple. It looked so lucious and red.
'I- thank you. It's really thoughtful of you' I said thankfully. 'I figured you might need it' he said looking straight at my eyes and after awhile gave me a side smile and walked away. He smiled at me.... That truly was a gorgeous smile... I smiled to myself, blushing so hard that I believed would stain my cheeks red forever.
That apple surprisingly made my stomach full. I walked down to a big garden where there were three Elvish ladies sitting elegantly down a white bench. Emily was sitting with them and I occupied the seat next to her.
Emily was bouncing up and down excitedly. 'First class is Elvish manners. I'm going to nail this round. And did you see the boy elves at the training ground...? They are soo.... gorgeous. A lady called Mrs Aquailean is our mentor. I've heard she's pretty strict so you better be mannered right now' said Emily. I was feeling green. What was I thinking?? I cannot learn Elvish ways...they look so complicated.
Suddenly a woman taller than anyone of us stridded towards us with a heavy book. She placed the book lightly at the table and turned to me and Emily. 'Human... never taught one of their kinds before in my lifetime and I'm 560 years precisely' she said. I and Emily looked at each other staring. 560 years old??!! She looks so young...
' I forgot to tell you, elves don't age and 560 is really young for an elf' Emily said. Oh boy... I wonder how old Daemeon is...'So ladies... You have been gathered here for learning the elvish maiden manners. It's complicated but...when learned properly it will turn you to a more different person. And I would appreciate if the lady Westfire would sit up straight just like her friend lady Clitch here' she said waving her hand at Emily. Emily turned beet red. Well I guess meeting Luthiann yesterday did have some plus points.
'Now you should be graceful in every thing you do... Now if you ladies would stand up. No! Don't jump up lady Westfire...but slowly and purposefully' said lady Aquailean to Em but nodding at my direction.
It's quite easier than I thought. 'Now ladies... If you would line up. Yes. In height order wise. No lady Clitch should stand in front of lady Westfire. Yes the other lady elves in front of them. I turned to look at Em but she looked disappointed and red. I'll talk to her after this. 'Now ladies I would like you to walk...yes...very good lady Westfire with your hand clasped in front of you. Excellent. Now all of you sit down. I have brought honey crackers and herb tea'. Emily lit up and looked up at me at the mention of food. A large gold platter of some biscuit like things were brought in front of us and a teapot filled with some kind of green liquid...
'Now ladies don't bow down too much to extract one cracker. Ah look at lady Clitch she's doing it perfectly yes. Lady Clitch do show us how to drink the tea' said Aquailean to me. The other elves and Emily looked at me.
'Umm...ok' I said and I, careful not to bow to much, took a tinsmy cup that was in the tray and poured the green tea onto it. I managed not to spill and to my great surprise the other elves and Aquailean started to applaud gently, like hitting their fingers at their wrists. I smiled politely at them and looked at Emily but she ignored me. I never thought this day would come when Emily would ever be jealous of me. I'm not like proud of myself but I feel happy and bad all at the same time.
