Chapter five

Saturday 3pm

We got to the last corner and turned left, we came to my street. A car parked outside my house, as we got closer I saw that it was Samantha’s car.

“Pull over here, I’ll walk the rest of the way” I said staring at my house.

“Why? Cause Sam’s there?” the tone he had on the night of Billie’s party was coming back.

“No, it’s just...”

“You don’t want to be seen with me”

“No, defiantly not that”

“Then what? Huh?”

“I…I can’t do this now. I have to go” I said getting out the car, what I wish I had said was “No, I like you, I want to stay with you forever” I guess if I knew what I know now, none of this wouldn’t have happened.

I walked slowly down the street as Jake sped off. I sighed to myself, knowing he was gonna be pissed next time I saw him. I got to my house and Samantha got out the car. She walked straight up to me, you know that walk those popular girls do.

“So?” she asked in her perfect tone of voice, not angrily or excited but calmly.

“So what?”

“Has he called?”

What did she want me to say, was I meant to tell her that I saw him five seconds ago.

“No”

“What a wimp, well seems like you’ll have to call him” at the moment my heart fell into my stomach.

“What? No, I would know what to say”

“I’ll tell you what to say, it’ll be fine”

We walked up to my house and up the stairs to my bedroom, my extremely plain bedroom. I could see she was a little unimpressed. She walked over to my desk, grabbed a pile of paper and a pen.

She dialled the number and smiled the devilish smile.

‘Hey, it’s Alice’

Wow, even her writing was perfect.

“Hey, it’s Alice”

“Hey, is everything okay?”

‘Yeah everything’s fine, there was something I wanted to ask you though’

“Yeah everything’s fine, there was something I wanted to ask you though”

“Oh, yeah what’s that?”

‘Are you free, tonight?’

“Are you free tonight?”

“Yeah but…”

“Okay pick me up at 6”

I couldn’t let him finish, especially when it was on loud speaker and Samantha was sitting right next to me. And I hung up before he could say anything else.

“That’s not what I was going to write?” Samantha blurted out.

“Sorry, I got nervous” was the only excuse I could come up with.

“Fine now let’s go”

“Where are we going?”

“Mine, we need to get you in something, sexy and skimpy”
