Chapter three

Friday, 8:35pm

“When does the party start?” I asked, while slipping the what I could only guess was a million dollar black dress.

“Half an hour ago” she yelled from the hallway.

“I’m sorry, I’ll hurry up”

“Nah, that’s alright. I was gonna be there at nine anyway”

I fitted into the dress perfectly, I opened the door and showed Samantha. She held out a pair of heels that went with the dress as if they were made for them, and for all I knew they could have been. I put them on and I looked perfect as of that moment. I felt like a Barbie doll, groomed and dressed, and well perfected.

We got to the party and Samantha looked me in the eyes and said,

“Okay, I want you to go in and do what I taught you”

I nodded and smiled as I opened the door, I felt like a whole new person after I got out that car.

We walked up to the door together; I could hear the music blearing. Billie opened the door and his mouth flung open.

“You might want to pick that up” Samantha said as she walked through the opened door, I followed.

We walked into the living room, Samantha handed me a drink and sculled her own. She whispered as she pointed out Jake across the room, “Okay now go talk to the guy he’s hanging out with”

I nodded and walked over,

“Hey Andrew right?”

“Yeah, but I can’t say I know you’re name, beautiful”

“Ha, it’s Alice” I gave a short but sweet smile, like Samantha had told me.

“This is Jake” he pointed to Jake and he smiled at me.

“Hi” I said as Jake eyed me up and down, I turned back to Andrew.

“How do you know Billie?” He asked noticing that I had focus back on him.

“I don’t, I’m here with Samantha” I said as I turned and looked at her, with her arms around sound hot guy.

“Really? You must be something special” Jake said sounding annoyed, Samantha told me he would get defensive when her name was said.

“I guess I am” I said and turned and winked at Andrew. He smiled at me, he knew what I meant.

“Why don’t we make our way to the bedroom?” he said, Samantha told me about what to do when this happened,

“I’ll have to check with Samantha, she’s my ride” She also told me what he would say to that.

“We can take you” She was right, “Right Jake?”

“Yeah, of course” Jake said, unenthusiastically. I smiled like I was told, I asked what I was meant to.

“Andrew would you mind getting me a drink?”

“Yeah no worries babe” He said smiling. He walked off, around the corner and into the kitchen.

“So you’re Sam’s friend?”

“Yeah, I hear you’re her ex?”

“I guess you could say that”

“So what happened?”

“I realized that she was a bitch”

“She doesn’t seem too bad to me”

“Is she sleeping with your brother?” Samantha had forgotten to tell me about that.

“Well no, I don’t have a brother” I had to stick with my new attitude.

“Then you’re right”

Andrew came back with three drinks in his hand, I grabbed one and so did Jake.

“Dude I’m gonna head off, you coming?” Jake said after sculling his drink.

“But the party’s only just started bro, I’m not going anywhere”

“I might go now too, do you mind?” I gestured and hoped he understood that I wanted him to take me.

“Yeah, whatever” he mumbled.

I followed him to his car, he opened the door for me, ‘what a gentlemen’ was all I thought.

“Thanks” I said with a smile, he shrugged me and closed the door after me.

As we began to drive he asked me about Samantha, and why we’re friends. We went through that.

“She saw something that she liked, I guess” was all I said.

“That’s what she said to me”

“I don’t think there’s anything that she could do that could make me hate her”

“It’s sweet that you think that, but she’s not as good as you think she is”

We pulled up at my house and he smiled and gestured to the door.

“I’d love to see you again, maybe next time we could talk about something other than Samantha” I said.

“I’d like that” was all he said, not even a smile.

I got out the car and went inside without looking back.
