Mira ran through the underground passage while carefully holding baby Niella. The darkness was all encompassing and seemed to slowly creep towards the children. As she ran, Mira felt as though the passage was never ending. She had forgotten whether she was running from the battle or from the darkness that surrounded her. Niella was crying even though she was oblivious to what was happening around her. Mira briefly wondered if Niella somehow knew what was happening despite only being an infant. After running for what seemed like an eternity, Mira came upon a stairway that led to a door. Opening the door, Mira discovered that she was now within the forest not far from the castle where she used to play. Deciding to rest for a few minutes and calm down the crying Niella, Mira took shelter in the hollow of a large tree.

"Shush little Niella it's alright. Mother and father will meet us in the Dawn Kingdom. If you keep crying it might draw attention to us." Mira soothed Niella even though she knew it was likely that she would never see her family again despite what her big sister had said. After calming the infant down Mira decided to go through the bag her sister had given her and see what supplies she had to work with. Within the bag there was a block of cheese, two loaves of brad, money, baby supplies, a sheathed dagger, and a cloak. Since she was taking a break Mira decided to feed Niella because it was likely that she hadn't gotten anything to eat due to the events that were occurring within the castle. Grabbing one of the bottles of prepared milk Mira began to feed Niella. As she fed Niella, Mira said in a soft tone, "I'm sorry Niella. The milk is cold, but there is no way to warm it up. You will have to put up with cold milk for a little while."

Once Niella had finished eating Mira decided that it would be best to be on their way otherwise there was a chance that the soldiers of the Nightfall Kingdom would discover them. She made the decision to skip a meal because she couldn't stomach the thought of eating after thinking about the amount of people that must have died due to the attack. Taking out the cloak and dagger, Mira strapped the dagger to her belt. Draping the cloak over her shoulders Mira made the executive decision that she would travel to the town, sneak into a caravan of traders, and try to blend in. Getting up Mira replaced the supplies into the bag and picked it up along with Niella. The baby had fallen asleep after she had been given her bottle and Mira was relieved seeing as they needed to be as quiet as possible. She began the short trek towards the town.

The journey to the town was a simple one once Mira found the road that led to it. The town of Carthage was a bustling city that housed many people, businesses, and guilds. Looking around the only caravan that she could find was a gypsy caravan that was traveling around to perform. As the caravan left Mira managed to slip into the group of strangers. Unknown to Mira the group was heading in the opposite direction of Dawn Kingdom towards the Dusk Kingdom. During the journey she learned the names of a few important figures within the group through listening to the conversations from within the shadows. She discovered that the leaders of the caravan were a middle aged couple by the names of Corvo and Linda. According to the gossip the couple were stern but kind people. Along with the couple there five other people that made decisions within the group. The names that Mira heard were Adjit, Lee, Harley, James, and Zara. The only problem that came from the gossip was that there weren't any faces to go with the names that Mira had learnt.

A few hours after leaving the town the caravan came to up to a border crossing that guarded the border  between the Daybloom and Dusk Kingdom. Mira began to internally panic because although she had been lucky so far to not draw attention to herself, the guards at the border had to be given papers by the leader of the group that stated how many people were traveling in the caravan. It was impossible to stay hidden any longer. She was bound to be discovered when the guard saw that the numbers didn't match up.
