The Unexpected Romance

Chapter Thirteen - Liam Velasco

It's Saturday and Athena was currently at SM Mall to buy some groceries. She was tasked by her Mother to do some errands today dahil wala naman siyang pasok.

Athena decided to go to the National Book Store first to buy her favorite book. She's been waiting for the 7th volume of the novel she's into.

When she saw the book she's looking for ay agad niya iyong hinawakan. It was the only remaining copy on the shelf but she did not expect that someone would also grab the book she's holding.

Athena looked at the man beside her.

'Liam Velasco' Athena called him inside her head. Ang lead vocalist ng Zeroth band.

She frowned. She did not expect to see a band's member here. What a coincidence.

"Uhm, I think I saw it first," Athena said. She's been waiting for the 7th volume of this novel. There's no way she'll gonna miss it.

Athena thought that Liam will insist on getting the book but she was surprised when Liam suddenly let it go and smiled at her apologetically.

'He's unexpectedly kind,' Athena thought to herself. She did not expect him to easily give me the book. Then Athena remembered Corrine saying that Liam is the matured one in the band. Looking at him now, she can't argue with that.

"I'm sorry miss. You can have it" Liam smiled at her, but she still could see his disappointment.

"Nagbabasa ka din nito?" Athena suddenly asked. The genre of this novel is Romance so she did not expect Liam to read novels like this.

"Ah no no, it's for my sister. She loves that Novel kaya pinabili nya sakin. Nabobore na daw kasi sya sa hospital. Too bad, last copy na pala. I'm Liam by the way, you are in the same school as mine, Right? You're the girl na nabangga ni Ace noon" he asked, still wearing his smile.

Tumango tango si Athena,

"I'm Athena," pagpapakilala niya. "Your sister is in the hospital?"

"Oh, she's undergoing treatment. She has congenital heart disease. So nakastay lang siya sa hospital" he smiled sadly.

"Sorry for asking" Athena felt guilty for asking.

"It's fine." Nakangiting wika ni Liam.

Napatingin si Athena sa librong hawak. She's thinking of giving the copy to him. Liam looked at Athena. She's really pretty.

Liam was stunned when Athena handed the book to him.

"Here" Athena said.

Liam looked at her with questioning eyes.

"You can have it, for your sister. I'm sure she's excited to read that one. I'll wait na lang til they replenish the copy"

"Are you sure?" Tinanggap ni Liam ang libro. He wanted to do everything for her sister. That's why when she requested him to buy the book, he immediately went to the mall to look for a copy. Unfortunately, the only copy he saw is this one in the National Book Store and Athena already grabbed onto it.

Athena nodded her head and smiled at him.

"Yes."

He smiled showing his dimples. Athena was mesmerized for a while. No wonder, maraming nahuhumaling sa kanila sa school. Athena even catches a glimpse of some girls who are looking at this man with admiration in their eyes.

"Thank you so much Athena. I'm sure my sister will be happy."

Liam was grateful that it was Athena who grabbed the book. Now he somewhat has an idea why their Ice Prince, Ace, took an interest in this girl. Aside from her pretty face, she's also kind.
