Hinahanap-Hanap Kita

Mommy Divine is walking towards their kitchen to prepare breakfast as she bobs her head to the tune of the music blasting from her daughter's bedroom. Her daughter's been doing this routine for more than a decade now, listening to the same set of songs every morning. She keeps on scolding her daughter about this routine every single day, but unknown to her daughter, she secretly loves it and she sometimes sing the lyrics too while cooking away in their kitchen.

She decided to go upstairs to her daughter's room after cooking but she met her in their living room, singing to the tune of her blasting music.

"Sarah! Ang ingay, patayin mo na nga 'yan. 'Di ka ba nagsasawa diyan? Buong dekada ka nang nakikinig ng mga kantang 'yan a?"

"Si mommy naman, kill joy. Maganda naman ah, aminin. Yiieee." Sarah went near her mother as she starts tickling her mother's armpit which earned her a painful pinch in the ear.

"Aray ko! Maaa, masakit." She rubbed the ear that her mother pinched to somehow relieve the pain.

"'Yan bagay sa'yo. Kung sana nga lang magiging jowa mo singer ng mga kantang 'yan sa pamamagitan ng pakikinig ng mga 'yan araw-araw eh di mas mabuti, para live nating mapapakinggan paminsa-minsan. Ano, jojowain mo ba?"

"Hindi mommy, 'no!" Sarah's mother was about to question her answer when she interrupted. "Syempre kasi, aasawahin." She winked at her mother which earned her another pinch in the ear. "Aray ko, Ma ha? Kunyari ayaw niyang nagpapatugtog ako araw-araw eh sumasabay naman sa pagkanta sa kusina tuwing umaga."

She walked towards the stairs so she could go to her room and turn the music off but before walking up the stairs, she faced her mother and started mimicking her mother's way of singing while cooking in the kitchen.

"Sa umaga't sa gabi
Sa bawa't minutong lumilipas
Hinahanap-hanap kita
Hinahanap-hanap kita~"

She swayed her hips as she pretended like she was holding a spatula in her right hand and a cooking pan in the other. When she noticed that her mother is coming towards her to pinch her ear again, she thought of her bedroom and ran for it. Before she completely vanished from her mother's view, she faced her mother's back, who is currently retreating towards the kitchen. She called for her mother.

"Ma!"

"Ano na naman, Asher?" Her mother faced her again with an irritated look. She knows her mother is just pretending to be annoyed, though.

"Sa isip at panaginip
Bawat pagpihit ng tadhana
Hinahanap-hanap kita~~~"

She laughed hard and ran for her bedroom. Mommy Divine just shook her head with her daughter's actions.

Days gone by and she never stopped listening to his songs every morning. Since the day she became vocal about it to her mother, she never stopped answering her mother's questions relating to it, with the answer "aasawahin". Just like today.

"Ma, alis na po ako. Mali-late na po ako sa rehearsals. Ipaalam niyo nalang po ako kay Daddy. Love you, Ma! Mwah!"

She sent a flying kiss to her mother and instead of catching it, her mother just shook her head.

"Sarah, 'yung music mo sa itaas, patayin mo muna."

She's at the door of her van now, waiting for one of her team who made a quick trip to the toilet.

"Mommy kaya niyo na po 'yun, gusto niyo pa naman pong makinig eh. Aminin, yiiieee."

"Aba't-" Instead of letting her mother finished her sentence, she continued it with a song.

"O, kay bilis naman maglaho ng
Pag-ibig mo, sinta
Daig mo pa'ng isang kisapmata~"

"Asher! Naku 'tong batang ire, ang kulit! Hala sige, lakad na.  Para namang mapapakanta mo 'yun sa harap ko sa pagkanta-kanta mo na iyan."

"Sus, si Mommy. Ayaw pa kasi aminin na crush na crush niya 'yon. Susumbong kita kay Daddy eh."

Mommy Divine started to walk towards her to give her a pinch but Daddy Delfin came and stopped his wife.

"Oh, papatulan pa pagkakulit nyang batang 'yan. Binibiro ka lang eh. Naglalambing lang."

"Naku Daddy, bye bye na po. Bantayan niyo po si Mommy baka buong araw 'yang makikinig ng songs ng crush niya."

"Pinasa mo pa sa akin, ikaw 'yung may crush doon."

As she was about to close the door, since her team is already complete, she faced her mother first as she winked at her father.

"Ma, don't worry. Kapag nakausap ko siya finally, Lord sana nga, sasabihin ko na aasawahin ko siya para sa'yo. Gusto niyo po 'yun? Araw-araw live concert."

Mommy Divine ran her palm on her face. Since the day Sarah confessed that she wanted to marry the rock icon, she's been receiving countless remarks from her daughter about it.

"Hindi mo 'yun magiging jowa, naku Sarah ah?"

Daddy Delfin once again stopped his wife from pinching their daughter.

"Hindi talaga Mommy. Aasawahin ko nga po, 'di ba?" She waved her hands at her parents. "Bye po!" Then she closed the van's door as she giggled, feeling giddy all over.

When she reached the ASAP studio, one of the staffs approached her to inform some changes with the production numbers that she'll be performing.

"Ms. Sarah, inform ko lang po kayo. Pumayag na po pala si Sir Bamboo. Ready na daw po siyang asawahin niyo po."

Sarah choked on the water she's drinking. "Naku Ms. Sarah, okay lang po ba kayo?" Sarah coughed and looked at the staff with wide eyes. "A-ano nga po 'yung sinasabi niyo?" She stuttered.

"Ipapaalam ko lang po sana Ms. Sarah na pumayag na po si Sir Bamboo magperform po dito sa ASAP. Magkakaroon po kayo ng prod together this Sunday. Ready na po siya for rehearsal." Sarah nodded her head repeatedly, not understanding what happened to her a while ago. She was imagining things, for goodness' sake! Naku Sarah, umayos ka. She said in her mind.

"Sige po, thank you po." Sarah said to the staff before walking towards the room where Bamboo is staying for their rehearsal. Her lips is trembling, this is her first time to perform with THE rock icon.

As she entered the room, she saw Bamboo talking to his manager near the door. So she waited for them to finish talking before completely going inside. She just stared at how manly he moves. She thought about how those dimples of his made him look more gorgeous than ever. Hindi ko nga talaga siya magiging jowa.

"Serah?"

"Ay, aasawahin!" Sarah blinked twice and her eyes widened with what she just said.

"Huh?" Bamboo raised his eyebrows.

"Ayyy Bub, este, B- no, S-Sir Bamboo. Hello po. Ako po pala si Sarah." Sarah extended her hand to Bamboo for a handshake. Pancho giggled at Sarah's cuteness while Bamboo just smiled at her humility as he shook her hand.

"Just call me Bamboo, Serah."

"Okay po B. Ay joke, okay po Bamboo." Sarah smiled, her hand's still shaking Bamboo's.

Naku Lord, ang lambot ng kamay. Dream come true po ito. Handshake pa nga lang parang mahihimatay na ako, paano kung maging asawa ko na nga?

Sarah blinked and looked at their hands. She slowly retrieved hers even though she could go on forever holding his.

"Let's go?"

"Sige po."

Sarah followed Bamboo towards the band so they could start the rehearsal. Sarah smiled and forced herself not to release a giggle.

Ang bango niya. Sarah said to herself as she sat in one of the chairs.

Mommy!!!! Aasawahin ko 'to. Magready ka na sa pa-live concert sa bahay araw-araw!
