"Detention, both of you. Tonight."

Isn't that just great? Who doesn't love hearing those words on the first lesson of your first year at your new school?

Besides, Father had told me to behave. Which in all honesty, I had. It's not my fault that no one in my dorm had woken me up. Apparently people here don't have alarm clocks. Another great idea.

Oh, and that thing I said about Dumbledore making a map of the school? Why hasn't that happened yet? I mean, even if it's not Dumbledore that makes it, there must be some genuises somewhere who made one.

Sometimes I just don't understand the Wizarding world.

But anyways, coming back to the matter at hand. After running late and having to put on my robes hurriedly, and sprinting to the Great hall, I still didn't make it in time for Transfiguration. Not only that but I got lost on the way. That was until I ran into someone turning a sharp corner.

"Oh shi- I'm- sorry-" I said between heavy breaths.

"Hey, no problem." I looked up at the voice, immediately recognising it. Standing in front of me was the Hufflepuff kid from the train station. "It's Poppy right?"

I nodded, "My name's Cedric Diggory." He then signalled to his robes "And as you have probably already seen I'm a Hufflepuff"

I smiled at him, unsure of what to say. We simply stared at each other for a bit before Cedric cleared his throat awkwardly. "Oh, are you heading to transfiguration too?" I nodded again. We love being socially awkward. *cough cough

"Well I hate to tell you this but you're going the wrong way" I groaned and he laughed, wierdly making me feel happy all of a sudden.

"Come on lets go before you get a detention."

"What do you mean 'you'? Won't you be getting one too?"

"Oh! So she can talk!" I laughed, finding it funny even though that statement was plainer than white bread.

"Well, Miss. Poppy, to answer your question, I just came from the infirmary after a Quidditch accident." I nodded and I actually understood what he was saying. Father had told me about the wizarding sport, said I should try out for the team. Saying that I would be a great player for Slytherin. He probably didn't think that anymore.

"Hey don't worry, I'm fine now" Cedric suddenly blurted out, and I looked at him in puzzlement. He probably thought that I had been thinking about him.

"Bold of you to assume that I was worried about you." He stared at me with his mouth open and I couldn't help laughing.

The next second, some wierd ghost thing appeared from the cieling and started throwing water balloons filled with ink at us. I shrieked and held up my book, but still couldn't stop laughing at how hilarious the situation was. I noticed Cedric was laughing too.

But the fun and games ended quickly as the Cat lady stepped out of her office with an annoyed expression on her face.

"What is this disruption?"

And just like that, the ghost dissapeared back into the wall with a smirk. I lowered my book which was now soaked in ink. As well as everything else around me. Including my brand new robes.

"It was Peeves Professor. He thr-" Cedric started before he was very rudely, I must say, interrupted.

"That still doesn't explain why the two of you are arriving 30 minutes late to my lesson."

This time I interviend "You know, there are these things called alarm clocks that wake you up in the morning. It's a clock that makes sound!" I gased dramatically. "Who would have thought such an item existed?! I know right! Truly shocking! Imagine being on time to lessons! What a dream!"

Both Cedric and Cat lady stared at me. The only difference being that Cedric was grinning broadley, whereas the latter looked a mixture of shock and anger. Or both.

However she quickly recomposed herself and opened the doors for us to walk into the classroom, still dripping from head to toe in ink.

Cedric and I shared a look and walked inside the class, recieving gasps and laughs as we made our way to the table at the back of the classroom.

The Cat Lady sat down and simply said

"Detention, both of you. Tonight."
