"I just- I don't understand what I did wrong"

I hugged Lanti tighter, and stroked her hair in what I hoped was a comforting manner.

"You didn't do anything Lanti, sometimes things happen but it's not your fault"

I passed her another tissue and she blew her nose noisily. "I thought- i thought she loved me or at least care for me"

I cupped Lanti's face so that she was looking at me "I have never seen a Hogwarts couple as perfect as you two, I'm sure that Pen had her reasons and once you've talked it out everything will make sense" she looked at me expectantly, "I'm certain"

"I really hope you're right Poppy" So do I

"Come on, let's get you to bed, it's been a long day."

I waited for Lanti to get changed and got her an extra blanket. When she was finally ready to sleep I kissed her forehead and bid her good night.

"Thank you for everything Poppy, you really are amazing"

I smiled, "Good night Lanti"

As I left her room I realised that I was completely lost. I hadn't been paying attention to the way we came in, and Merlin knew that directions were not my thing.

Just as I was contemplating how sleepable the floor looked, I saw a familiar figure down the corridor.

"Cedric!" I called out.

He turned around, his expression confused before it melted into a smile.

"Poppy? What are you doing here? It's late"

"Yeah I'm aware" I rolled my eyes, "Sorry its just I was with my friend and I realised that I have no idea how to get out of here"

"Well you can't go back now" he stated

"What do you mean?"

"It's late, and after tonight's events I don't think you should be out alone in the castle."

He had a point, but that meant...

"Besides we were supposed to hang out tonight and you completely forgot about it"

Crap. I did completely forget about it.

"Alright alright you have a point. But where will I stay, I don't want to disturb Lanti or everyone else in her dorm."

He grinned at me and I knew what he was going to say

"You see Poppy," he started as he linked our arms and walked me further down the hallway, "one of the many perks of being a prefect is that I have my very own dorm"

I chuckled, "That is certainly convenient"
He stopped in front of a door, "here we are, the famous prefect's dorm"

"Extraordinary" I exclaimed, feigning awe.

"Wait till you see the inside."

He pulled open the door, and I had to admit it really was extraordinary. He had bookshelves that were brimming with textbooks and other material. His desk was a lot bigger than the one I had in my room, how unfair. And there was a window with the most beautiful view of the Black Lake.

I skimmed the room once more and frowned.

"There's only one bed" I noticed.

"Mhm I hadn't noticed. Thanks for that ground breaking discovery Poppy"

I grinned "I meant, where will I sleep"

"Well the bed is more than big enough for both of us."

I stiffened at the thought and Cedric noticed. "But if you don't want to, I can get a blanket and sleep on the window seat. It's quite comfortable really"

I already knew I wasn't going to let him. He was being so generous letting me sleep in his room I wasnt going to take his bed as well. "No, no it's fine, I can sleep on the window sill seat."

He frowned at my response "Dont be stupid I'm not going to let you"

"Well I'm the guest so I get to pick, and i pick the window seat"

"Yeah but it's my room so I'm in charge. And I think you should have the bed"

"But it's your bed, it's not fair for me to take it"

"You're not taking it, you're sleeping in it. There's a difference"

I groaned. He really wasnt going to give up.

"Alright you know what, why don't we both sleep on the bed?"

He shrugged, "I mean if you really want to"

I slapped his arm playfully, "come on, I'm too tired to argue."

Cedric let me borrow one of his shirts and as soon as I put it on his scent enveloped me. I pulled the hem of the shirt to my nose, and sniffed it thoroughly.

"That's totally not weird" Cedric grinned.

"You smell nice" I muttered and I thought I saw him blush.

If I thought his scent was overpowering me then, it was nothing compared to the intensity of it when I slipped into his bed.

"Goodnight Poppy" he said, inching closer to me.

I grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers. "Night Ced"

That night I dozed off hearing Cedric's gentle snores, his palm against mine and his familiar scent all around me.

Books, Butterbeer and Vanilla extract.
