(3rd Person POV)

"I can't believe I let you convince me to go on a blind date with a complete stranger! Let alone on Halloween!" (Y/N) huffed into the phone as she struggled to apply her ruby red lipstick on. The voice on the other line was slightly muffled, but it was her best guy friend Henry. He was the one who set her up on the date. (Y/N) had been out of the dating game for a long time and now she found herself being dragged back in. She brought the blood red lipstick to her face as she delicately applied it on her very chap and dried out lips. The small apartment she lived in began to shake from a passing train causing the lipstick to streak to the left. It left a long red mark running from the corner of her mouth to the middle of her cheek.

This caused the young woman to grow annoyed. She hated living right next to a train station! Yet, rent there in the city she lived in was super expensive and this was one of the only few places she could afford rent. She could hear a faint chuckle coming from the other side of her phone. "What's so funny Henry?" (Y/N) snapped.

"Look, you're always complaining that you're lonely and you hate the single life! You weren't going to do anything you big introvert,so I set up a date at this new haunted house theme diner! I think you're going to like him!" Henry laughed quietly. "He's a good friend of mine, we've worked together in the old studio before it well, went bankrupt.." (Y/N) rolled her eyes as she snatched a makeup wipe and wiped away the mistake she made. "You're going to do fine! Just don't be late! It's almost 6:00pm!" Her eyes went wide as she gazed at her old grandfather clock. Henry was right, (Y/N) needed to leave asap!

"Well, I'll talk to you later Henry, don't do anything dumb!" She shouted into the phone before hanging up and tossing it into her purse. She stared into the mirror and sighed. "You look just fine (Y/N)..maybe this blind date won't go bad right?" (Y/N) whispered to herself outloud. Deciding the lipstick was a lost cause, she wiped away the rest and hurried out the door. The diner was only a couple of blocks away, so there was no need for her to take her car. On the way there, (Y/N) tried to walk confidently down the sidewalk though, the highheel boots she decided to wear had made her look like a newborn foal trying to walk rather than some graceful supermodel.

Clumsily, the young woman walked toward the new diner. She was greeted by ghostly ghouls and glowing jack-o-lanterns. She shrugged off the cheap décor and stepped inside. She was greeted by a hostess dressed up as Dracula. The hostess greeted her warmly and asked if the young woman had a reservation. (Y/N) tensed a bit as she felt her anxiety flare up. She wasn't the best at socializing with people she didn't know. New people always made her nervous. Maybe that explained her heartbeat rapidly beating anxiously about meeting this strange guy. The hostness offered her a confused look and asked (Y/N) the same question. Which, the introverted girl missed, because her mind seem to tune out all the outside noise.

Sweat began to form on her brow as her world felt like it was spinning. Her breath picked up as she felt her stomach twist into a knot. Oh, (Y/N) was not thrilled about having an anxiety attack right then and there in a public space where thousands of eyes were peering at her. She felt like a small ant compared to the towering figures of dark shadow. She felt lightheaded and gripped her purse closely as to keep herself in reality. The hostess had a concerned look and said something, but yet again it was nothing but static noise.

Nearby, a young man who sat alone at a booth with a bunch of blood red roses perked his head up. He stood up from his seat as his eyes peered over at a woman dressed in a (f/c) sweater dress with black leggings and highheel boots. 'Is this my blind date?' a thought popped in the male's head. This is Joey Drew, a life long friend of Henry who was quite nervous about entering the dating world as well. From his last nasty breakup with one of the voice actress' who worked in the studio with him. It left him hurt and unavailable for anything romantic related. His fear kept him at bay for many years which caused him to turn down dates from many beautiful women and somehow his best friend convince him to step into the unknown with a mysterious blind date.

'Henry, did say the woman in (f/c) with (skin tone) was going to be the person to look for..' He thought as he slowly approached the hostess. Meanwhile, poor (Y/N) felt sickish to her stomach and honestly just wanted to flee from the scene. Yet, her feet remained glued to the wooden flooring. Her head lifted up when loud footsteps approached her. A dashing young man approached the two with a worried look on his face. He said something, but it was distorted static.

"Are you Ms.(Y/N)?" a smooth and yet calm male voice broke through her anxious thoughts. She stared at him blankly before slowly nodded her head. The male offered her a warm smile, yet his face was still full of concern. "I'm Joey Drew, your blind date..you don't look so well (Y/N), maybe you should sit down! Can someone get me a glass of water?!" Joey took the poor girl by the arm and helped her sit down in the booth across from him. A waiter dressed as a zombie hurried over with a large glass of water. The waiter did a quick little bow before he retreated to the kitchen. Joey looked concerned.

"Y-you're J-joey? M-my blind date?" (Y/N) stammered as she nervously gripped the table. Joey Drew offered her a warm smile as he nodded his head in response. His kind eyes and warm smile seem to ease her anxiety a bit and with a trembling hand it wrapped around the glass of water. She reached it up to her chap lips and drank. The cool water slipped past her throat soothing the burning panic that scratched angrily at her throat. She nearly let the glass slip past her finger tips if it wasn't for Joey gently taking the glass away.

"Are you okay? You seem very panicked is something wrong?" Joey Drew asked slightly anxious himself. (Y/N) stayed quiet for a second before she leaned against the smooth leather of the booth. She closed her eyes and sighed. She tried her best to quiet her jumbled nerves.

"I'll b-be okay..I just..don't do well around new people..hehehe, this was a bit hard for me to do..I d-don't usually go out to places to meet a stranger.." the woman answered honestly. Joey seem to understand perfectly as he nodded his head as well.

"Well, maybe it won't be as bad..maybe if we get to know each other, you won't be so anxious..so I'll go first, I'm Joey Drew, a former cartoon animator who worked along side Henry for years, I like long walks in the park and been working on my own graphic novel.." He stuck his hand out awkwardly. (Y/N) peered at it for an awkward minute before reaching out to grasp his big hand. Their hands seem to mold together as if these two were made for one another. She felt her face flush a slight shade of firetruck red as she gazed at him.

"O-oh, nice to meet you Joey..lmy name's (Y/N), I like (favorite animals), video games and plan to be a software developer...so I'm taking online classes for it.." She answered awkwardly. And from that awkward greeting, it soon led to both of them opening up slowly. Both seem to have a lot in common and soon, the anxiety that (Y/N) seem to melt away. Maybe these two would turn out to be perfect for one another. Who knows? This is the end of this oneshot.
