Burr's POV
I'm always on edge these days. The colonies are getting more and more restless and it looks like there's actually going to be a war. I notice a crowd gathered and immediately know that someone somewhere is saying something about the revolution.
"Hear ye! Hear ye!" A man stands on a podium, dressed properly and holding a scroll. "My name is Samuel Seabury! And I present 'Free Thoughts On The Proceedings Of The Continental Congress'." I hate the loyalists as much as the next person, but I pay attention to his words. "Heed not the rabble who scream revolution. They have not your interest at heart."
"Oh my God. Tear this dude apart." Says a deep voice on the other side of the quad. It's Hercules Mulligan along with Alexandra Hamilton and the rest of their group of drunken toddlers. There's no way this ends well with Alexandra around, but the least I can do is protect her from Seabury... or vice versa.
"Chaos and bloodshed are not a solution. Don't let them lead you astray." Seabury continues. "This congress does not speak for me."
Out of the corner of my eye, Alexandra is making her way towards the podium. Oh God, no! I shuffle towards her and pull her back by her forearm."Let him be." I whisper at her through my teeth. She reluctantly nods and I relax my grip on her.
"They're playing a dangerous game." Jesus Christ! Is this guy still talking? "I pray the king shows you his mercy. For shame. For shame."
I shouldn't have loosened my grip, because she dashes through the wall of people and begins preaching.
"Yo! He'd have you all unravel at the sound of screams, but the revolution is coming! The have-nots are gonna win this." I admire her determination.
Seabury tries to keep reading from his scroll, but he's immediately cut off by Alexandra. "It's hard to listen to you with a straight face." She scoffs at him. "Chaos and bloodshed already haunt us." She mocks everything about him from his words to his posture. "Honestly, you shouldn't even talk." He pushes her aside and continues reading with a newfound panic in his voice. "And what about Boston? You look at the cost and all that we've lost and you talk about congress!?"
She's brought up some excellent points in her argument. And she's so abrasive! Seabury is shaking because of her. "This congress does not speak for me."
"My dog speaks more eloquently than thee," that line has the people cackling uncontrollably. I would be too if we weren't in public. "but strangely your mange is the same."
The man is speaking in gasps now. "I pray the king shows you how mercy."
"Is he in Jersey?" She asks, mocking his threat. Such moxy! They'll have her head for that!
"For shame."
"For the revolution!" She shouts.
"For shame!"
"FOR THE REVOLUTION!" Everyone here is on her side. They're all being so loud and controversial. I pray that no one with opposing views is listening in on the chaos.
"Heed-" Seabury shrieks.
Alexandra jumps up beside him on the podium. "If you repeat yourself again, I'm gonna scream." He shoves her with the little strength he has left. "Honestly, look at me! Please don't read!"
"N-not your interest at heart." She's reduced him to a blubbering mess.
"Don't modulate the key then not debate with me! Why should a tiny island across the sea regulate the price of tea?"
"Alexandra, please!" I pull her back from him. It's harder than I thought. I had no idea how strong she was. She's just full of surprises.
"Burr, I'd rather be divisive than indecisive. Drop the niceties!" She retorts. Why? She's already beaten this man's ego into a pulp.
"Silence!" And with that the crowd disbands. Two British officers are marching our way. "A message from the king! A message from the king! A message from the king!"
I start running and I notice Joan Laurens dragging Alexandra away. Not so tough now, are you?

FanfictionAlexandra Hamilton, Elijah Schuyler, Joan Laurens, Mark Reynolds and a few others are genderbends. I'm taking a lot of creative liberties because I want this to be an empowering story. I also changed Alex and Eli's children to mostly girls. I don't...
