Tessa wasn't send up to the maze regularly. The box was sent up 3 days earlier than it normally come up. She was put in the maze for the boys to find.

WINSTON BEGAN TO WORRY after Tessa was gone for a few minutes. Winston decided he was going to go find her. She can't have gone far but it would be a bit harder to find her in this chaos.
Winston ran out to the field looking around frantically, until he saw a small body on the ground and ran over to it. She had a big gash on her abdomen where she had been stung.
"Shit" Winston said picking her up quickly and carrying her back to the council hall building
When he entered Chuck was quick to his feet "What happend?" He asked "She got stung" Winston said before commotion came from the doors.
The others came running in and Thomas immediately looked around at the group "Wheres Tessa?" He asked and Winston looked to the girls limp body
Thomas ran over and tried to get the girl to wake up but she didn't. He looked at the stuffed elephant in her hand
Than griever noises were heard outside the building and they all looked up, waiting for the griever to attack. The top of the hut dropped down and a griever arm shot threw and they were all knocked back at the force of the ceiling
"Help!" Clint yelled as they tried to reach but the griever was much faster. They all backed up and Thomas held onto Tessa
Another arm shot through looking for another person to grab. The person closest was Chuck "Chuck!" They yelled as the griever grabbed Chucks clothes and lifted him
Thomas ran towards Chuck and grabbed his arm. Teresa and Minho by his side pulling "Chuck dont let go" Thomas said "No shit!" Chuck yelled as they tried to get Chuck from the griever
The griever had the needle ready to sting Chuck but Alby stood up and ran at it, slamming the arm with an axe and eventually broke it
Chuck coughed as Alby screamed. "Chuck you okay?" Thomas asked and Chuck nodded as he held the needle from the griever "Yeah. Thanks Alby" he said
Alby didn't get to answer, but another arm smashed through the top of the hut and grabbed him "Alby!" Everyone yelled and Thomas ran to grab his arm keeping his just inside the building
Thomas groaned as he tried to keep Alby from being killed by the griever "Thomas" Alby said "get them out" he said before the griever completely took him away and Thomas screamed "No!"
Thomas looked around before running to the door and looked around the glade. Every building was on fire. Everything they built.
"Where is everyone?" Chuck asked
Newt had Tessa at his side, still unconscious
Gally and two others came towards them, and Gally looked at Thomas "Gally" Thomas said before Gally punched him straight in the jaw knocking him down and everyone held Gally away form Thomas before he could do anything else
