Tessa wasn't send up to the maze regularly. The box was sent up 3 days earlier than it normally come up. She was put in the maze for the boys to find.
Minho is the one to do so. They bring her to the glade. She is the youngest amongst all the boys...

THE GROUP OF GLADERS slept near the doors, Tessa and Chuck got up early. The doors clicked and started to slowly open.
"Guys, there opening" Chuck said as him and Tessa stood at the door looking out at the small crack.
The group slowly got up and others crowded the door. Once the doors were fully open they started out into the corridor for a minute.
"I told you guys. Their not coming back" Newt said holding a hand on Chucks shoulder and giving Tessa's shoulder a small squeeze.
Tessa turned around to the gladers walking away. Zart turned to Tessa "I'm sorry Tessa" he said before looking into the maze and his eyes squinted almost in disbelief
"No way" he muttered and Tessa turned quickly to see Thomas and Minho at the end of the corridor carrying Alby
"Yeah!" Chuck yelled "yeah!"
Tessa smiled widely. He had made it.
They set Alby on the ground, Jeff and Clint got beside Alby to check him. Thomas and Minho were panting as everyone circled them with questions
"What Happend?" "You saw a griever?" Chuck asked. Thomas looked up at the group "Yeah I saw one" "He didn't just see it" Minho said "he killed it"
Tessa waited until everyone had gone to see Thomas. He looked up at her and a small but hopeful smile came across his lips. Tessas smile got big and she immediately hugged him as he lift her up slightly. Tessa let all the tears out at that moment.
"I thought you were dead" She said as she cried into his shoulder. He lightly rubbed her back. "I know Tess. I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you like that" Thomas said "you know I wouldn't leave you in here alone" Thomas pulled away so Tessa was looking at him. Her tear stained cheeks broke his heart. "Tess I promise, I mean no less than that"
Tessa sat next to Chuck in the council buikding, They said Thomas had to sit alone "Things are changing. There's no denying that" Gally said "first Ben gets stung in broad daylight, than Alby"
"And now our greenie here had taken it soon himself to go into the maze. Which is a clear violation of our rules here"
"Gally" "But he saved Albys life Gally" Frypan said
"Did he?" Gally asked "for three years we co existed with these things. And now you've killed one of them." Gally pointed to Thomas "who knows what that could mean for us"
"What do you suggest we do?" "He has to be punished" Gally said
"Come on!" "He killed a Griever"
"Minho" Newt said "you were there with him. What do you think?" He asked
Tessa looked over to Minho who stood against the wall "I think in all the time we've been here..." Minho trialed off with a sigh "Nobodys ever killed a griever before. When I turned tail and ran, this dumb shank stayed and helped Alby" Minho said stepping forwards a bit "Look, I don't know if he's brave, or stupid. But whatever it is we need more of it. I say we make him a runner" he said setting off everyone onto chatter. Tessa gasped a little bit and looked to Chuck who has the same surprised look
"A runner? What?"
All but Chuck and Tessa were confused and hesitant but The two were totally with the idea and supported Thomas fully and started to chant Thomas's name "Thomas, Thomas, Thomas..." Tessa and Chuck stoped when he realized nobody was doing it with him
"Guys let's not jump the gun here" Frypan said
"If you wanna throw the newbie a parade that's fine, go ahead" Gally said "but if there's one thing I know about the maze is that you do not—"
Gally was interrupted by a familiar siren noise coming from the box. They all ran out of the hut and Thomas, Tessa and Chuck stopped just outside
"Wait I know that sound" "It's the box. It's coming back up" Chuck said "It shouldn't be" Minho said as he passed them to run to the box
Tessa broke out into a sprint towards the box, and was third after Newt and Gally stood above the box and opened it. Newt jumped down. Tessa was near the front near Thomas
A girl laid at the bottom, passed out. Beth starred at the familiar girl. She and seen her before.
"Newt. What do you see?" "It's a girl" Newt said
"What's in her hand?" Gally asked and Newt grabbed a small note from the girls hand and unfolded the note "She's the last one ever" Newt read the note
"What the hell does that mean?" He asked before the girl gasped awake. she was breathing heavily before she spoke
"Thomas" the girl said "Tessa" she gasped again and fell back unconscious. Tessa looked to Thomas beside her in confusion. Everyone in the group was looking at the two.
"Still think I'm over reacting?"
Tessa walked into the hut where the medjacks stayed with the girl. They passed the room Alby was in and he was breathing heavily
"Jeff, what's going on?" Newt asked "what's the matter with her? Why won't she wake up?" "I don't know man. I got my job the same was you did" Jeff said
Newt turned to Thomas and Tessa "Do you recognize her?" He asked and Tessa shook her head "No" Thomas siad "Really because she seemed to recognize you guys" Newt said
"What about the note?" Tessa asked "We'll worry about the note later" "I think you should worry about it now" Newt turned to Thomas "We got enough to worry about at the moment"
"He's right. The box isn't coming back up. How long do you think we can last?" Jeff asked
"No one said that" Newt said "let's not jump to any conclusions. We'll just wait until she wakes up and see what she knows. Somebody's got to have some answers around here"
Thomas turned on his heel and went to words the door "Where are you going?" Newt asked "Back into the maze" Thomas said, Tessa chased after him and Newt looked to Minho who sighed and chased after the two.
"Thomas" Tessa said but Thomas ignored "Hey, Thomas!" Minho stoped Thomas and Tessa stood with them
"What is it with you? A death wish? you just got out and now you want back in?" Minho asked "Newt said that nobody's ever seen a griever and lived to tell about it. Well, now we have one. And your telling me your not even a little bit curious?"
"Not really no" Thomas went to walk away but Minho stopped him again "So what's the plan?" He asked "your gonna go out their and dissect that thing all by yourself?"
"I will if I have to. Have the other runners left yet?" "The other runners quit this morning" Minho turned to the group of boys who were with Gally and Tessa scowled "After Alby got stung, their not in any hurry to get back in there"
"Why are you?" Minho asked "I think it's time we find out what we're really up against." "Alright" Minho said "but your not going back out their alone. Meet me in the woods ina half an hour"
