Tessa wasn't send up to the maze regularly. The box was sent up 3 days earlier than it normally come up. She was put in the maze for the boys to find.

TESSA FELT SOMEONE POKING HER shoulder lightly, getting more forceful and she turned to see Chuck
"What Chuck?" She asked "Let's go see Thomas, I have food for him. He'll need it today" Tessa nodded and got off the bed. Chuck had a small lamp he carried as they walked towards the pit
"Who's there?" Thomas asked from inside the pit "It's just us" Chuck said as they leaned down in front of the bars to reveal themselves "Sorry guys" Thomas apologized and Tessa nodded in understanding
"Here, you'll run better on a full stomach" Chuck gave Thomas a bit of bread. It wasn't much but it was better than nothing. Tessa and Chuck sat down outside where Thomas was as he started to devour the bread as if he hadn't eaten in days
"Thanks guys" Thomas said. Tessa noticed the wooded figure Chuck always carried around. He always said he wanted to give it to his parents— if they ever got out of here.
"Hey, what do you got there?" Thomas asked Chuck, and he held the figure so Thomas could see it. "That turned out pretty good" Thomas said "what's that for?"
"It's for my parents" Chuck said "You remember your parents?" Thomas asked
Chuck shook his head sadly "no. I mean I must have them. And wherever they are I'm sure they miss me but, I can't miss them because I can't remember them"
Chuck noticed Tessa looking towards the doors and follwed her gaze "What do you think your gonna find out there?" Tessa asked "I don't know" Thomas said "hey, but there's a way out Tess. Me and Minho are gonna find it."
Chuck sighed and held out the figure to Thomas "here" he said and Thomas took it
"Chuck why would you give this to me?" "I can't remember them anyways" Chuck said "maybe if you find a way out you can give it to them for me. I'm gonna go get some sleep" Chuck said standing up and started to walk off
Tessa stood up and followed him.
"Hey guys?" Thomas called out and they turned "come here"
They went back to Thomas and Chuck leaned down "Put our your hand Chuck" he said and Chuck did and Thomas placed the figure back in his hands "I want you to give them that yourself. We're gonna get outta here. All of us, okay? I promise"
Chuck nodded and stood back up "Okay, goodnight" Chuck said "Night buddy"
"goodnight Thomas" Tessa said and Thomas smiled a bit "Night Tess" Tessa turned on her heel and ran to catch up with Chuck.
