"I haven't seen you around before."

You're startled when a soft voice jolts you out of your thoughts. Gazing upon the tall broad man standing a few feet from you, you notice how impossibly handsome he is. 'Way out of your league', you muse.

"Oh, I could say the same." you flash him an awkward smile and turn back to where the water flowed from under the bridge, stretching out into the horizon, further than your eyes could see. It was a beautiful evening, the setting sun casting an orange glow over the blue water, creating a painter's artwork on nature's canvas.

Hugging your blazer tightly around your chest, you can't help but shiver as the cold night air starts to creep in. Throwing a peripheral glance at the man on your right, you notice that his body is twisted towards you, his eyes through their lenses size you up from head to toe. You never were any good at sparking conversation with strangers, but this one seemed adamant. Gripping the metal bars of the rail in front of you, you turn your head to the side, giving him your full attention.

"I didn't notice how beautiful it was up here until recently." you sigh, seeing his expression soften with words seemingly unsaid.

He chuckles, and leans his forearms on the rail.

"Been coming here for months. There's something that draws me back here despite my heavy schedule. A calm amidst the storm." he smiles towards the scenery, and the feeling is mutual. You both fall into a comfortable silence - you and the handsome stranger.

Weeks go by - falling into a routine of visiting the small bridge, meeting the stranger who you came to know as Jin. You weren't sure if you kept going there to witness the sunset or to spend a measly five minutes with the gorgeous man who happened to make you laugh with his clever word play and silly jokes. You didn't know much about him, except that he was an attorney at a law firm in the main city, and he knew little about you, just that a series of events had lead you to leave your old life behind and find solace in this small town.

He was a true gentleman, and never once moved too close into your vicinity, neither did he make any advances, spoken or physical. You felt safe, at ease, and you soon realize that despite the beauty of those cool evenings, it was the beauty of feeling a warmth towards him that drew you here like a magnet.

One day after parking your car and wrapping yourself in an over-sized throw, you walk down towards the bridge, only to find it vacant.

Perhaps he was late today. Slightly disappointed, you lean against the cold bars and drink in the crisp air, when your phone rings, distracting you.

"Hello."

{"Miss L/N, your husband is back in the country and has requested a meeting tomorrow at pm. Can you make it?"}

"Yes, I'll be there. Text me the address."

{"Can you be there an hour earlier? There's a few clauses I'd like us to look at before the meeting."}

"Sure." you say and cut the call.

Taking a deep breath, you check the time and decide to head back home. The little comfort you had found in the handsome stranger would have to be a forgotten notion tonight. You needed to get back home, prepare for the meeting with your lawyer and your soon to be ex-husband.

***

You sit nervously across your lawyer, fidgeting with your fingers where they laid entwined under the dark oak desk. You knew this day would come, but you hadn't been expecting it to be so soon. Neither had you expected to find his girlfriend waiting in the car outside the office building, filing her nails, not a care in the world. She probably couldn't wait for you to be completely out of the picture so she could have Yoongi all to herself. Pathetic secretary who was essentially the cause of your broken marriage.

The clock strikes 1 and your lawyer stands from her seat, gathers her things and motions for you to follow her. You reach the large double-doors, and when she opens them to lead you inside, you almost faint.

Because sitting there, across from the man you hope you would never see again, was the man you prayed you would see more of.

His name in bold on a glass name plate in the left corner of his desk.

Kim Seokjin.
