Work could have - should have taken a back seat this week, with all the latest unfoldings of life, but besides the money you desperately needed to see you through the divorce, what with lawyers fees and taxes on top of your monthly bills, you had no idea where you stood once the divorce was finalized. So making an appearance at school early Monday morning was a wise decision, even if both your heart and mind weren't on the same page.
Was it purely misfortune that had you uprooting your whole life and diving headfirst not only into a marriage of disaster but a country you could never call your own? It sure seemed that way.
Questions, so many questions roamed your mind, and all you could do was put on a brave face and pretend that you were alright.
You felt used. Used by both men who had entered your life, disrupted your peace of mind, and shattered your heart. Twice. Nothing could have prepared you for the knowledge that your husband had once been intimately acquainted with your boyfriend's ex wife, and even with knowing this, there were so many unanswered questions. And nobody to trust.
Yoongi. You could trust him, in a way. He did try to warn you after all. If only you had listened, and not fallen foolishly in love with a man who had more secrets than you could fathom.
At least he didn't have a child, and those suspicions had been put to rest when no indication of a child present in Sunmi's life was made after much digging through hers and Jimin's social media accounts. Recalling the encounter at the park, you remember that the sweet little girl never once called the woman "mother" or "mum", and the woman never did refer to her as her daughter. Heck, the girl didn't even look anything like Jin, and with such fierce features as he owned, surely she would have picked up one or two.
Not that you weren't maddeningly livid with Jin. The fact that he didn't at least tell you 'Hey, my ex wife used to fuck your ex-husband', hurt.
It was either he was a good liar, or he too simply did not know.
But the signs were there, all along. From Yoongi's warnings to Jin being on edge these past few weeks, there was no way everyone was as clueless as they led you to believe.
Which led you to your own conclusion: Jin was using you to get back at Yoongi.
The more you think about it, the more it makes sense. Jin was so out of your league, you were probably blinded by his glowing appeal not to realize that in any normal world, a man like him would never look twice your way.
So snap out of it Y/N!
Which is exactly what you were going to do - stop being so dramatic. Nothing was confirmed, Jungkook could have been wrong. Yoongi was known for his promiscuity, it could have been any girl that day in their parents' bed, someone who looked like Jin's wife. Jungkook didn't even know her name.
Stop Y/N!
You were hyperventilating - the way you did when you ran out of Yoongi's office and stood frozen outside the door while trying to figure out if your eyes hadn't deceived you - and you needed a level head to face Principal Choi. In the distance, you could hear him calling you, impatiently too (you couldn't blame him, you must have been standing there overthinking for at least five minutes after you knocked on his door) and footsteps can be heard bouncing off the tiles, getting louder, louder, and it was too loud.
"Miss Y/L/N?!" Principal Choi was obviously upset and confused at the same time. He hesitantly reached out and touched your shoulder, apologetic when you snapped out of yourself at last and started at his touch. "Are you okay?"
A lump lodged in your throat, and instead of answering that question with a reply laced in a million reasons why you were not, you lifted a hand in assurance and weazled your way through the door into his office.
