Your eyes dart back and forth between the gold on his finger and his innocent face, his brows lifted ever so slightly as he waits for you to say something, anything. Feeling flustered and slightly unsettled, you replay his words in your mind. What was he playing at?

"How would you know Yoongi is still in love with me?" you blurt out, looking back out at the horizon, trying to change the topic - nimbly avoiding the obvious elephant in the air.
You hear him sigh, "Because he told me."

"I wouldn't take anything he says seriously." you scoff. "He has a way of manipulating the most unsuspecting culprits."

"Like I said, he's my best friend. I might be the only person he doesn't lie to. After all, I'm his lawyer as well. I can sense when someone is lying. He wasn't." Jin says matter-of-factly.

"If you know him so well, you would know that he's unfaithful. He's lucky I'm not demanding half of everything."

"He sure is lucky." Jin says softly. You turn to see him looking right at you, but you look down to his left hand again.

"You're married." you point out.

"I was." he sighs, and you watch as he skims the metal with his right index, a forlorn look on his face as if drawing out memories from the thin band of gold.

"It's funny how life works, huh?" he throws you a quick smile before continuing, "My situation was very similar to yours."
"She cheated on you?" you ask stunned - how on Earth would any woman in their right mind give up the perfect man for anyone else?

"Yeah." he stops trimming the ring and sighs, looking out at the darkening evening.

"I'm sorry." reflexively you reach out and place your hand over his.

He turns his hand under yours, and interlaces his fingers through yours.

"Why do you still wear it?" you ask looking at the glinting band.

He chuckles, "To keep the persecuting ladies away, of course." he smirks, which makes you burst out laughing.

"Oh wow." you marvel, rolling your eyes.

"Oh come on, have you seen me?" he throws you a purposeful wink.

Silence follows, to which you lose yourself in his eyes. You were seeing him - you've seen him for weeks and yet for some reason your subconscious allowed you to think of him as a mere figment of your imagination - a small detail in the larger picture, of you coming out here every evening to seek peace within yourself - but right now, he wasn't imaginary, he was as real as the heat from the pad of his thumb drawing circles over your knuckles, majestically easing all your troubles away.

As dark as his brown eyes were, you could see the sadness hidden beneath which mirrored your own pain and heartbreak. How small was this world really? Who would have thought you would find yourself staring at a reflection of your pain?

This world so small that you'd find yourself developing feelings for this man - no longer a stranger, yet you still knew little about him. So small that he was an acquaintance of your husband.

His best friend.
There was a level of absurdity to that little fact, which had you abruptly snatching your hand from his soft caress.

You hoist yourself up and slip your feet into your pumps, heart pumping at a rapid pace. 'This is wrong.' You chastise yourself inwardly.

"I'm sorry Jin. We shouldn't - I don't even know what this is - but it's wrong." As you turn to walk away, he grabs your wrist and halts you.

"One month y/n." He echoes Yoongi's words from this afternoon. "Give me one month to get to know you better." He looks dead-serious, one eyebrow lifted in challenge.
