Christopher picked Lyn up fromdetention because he promised her icecream. Despite his promise, he had a craving for chicken, so we ended up atZaxby's. When we arrived, Lyn went to finda seat, and Christopher placed the order, Ichecked his phone as it buzzed, and it was atext from Lyn."I thought you said itwould be just me and you?" Hermessage actually made me mad.Christopher and I are a package deal; sheneeds to get that through her thick skull.Once our order came out,Christopher carried it to our table. Lyn wastoo busy hoeing around in her phone tonotice the evil eye I was giving her. Shedidn't even speak to us as she munched onher chicken tenders. The only sound on the way back toChristopher's parents' house was the radio.I anxiously waited for Lyn to departure thecar so I could complain about her attitude. She left us with a slam of the door, whichcaused me to jump. Christopher waited for her to get inside before we proceeded tomy mom's apartment."Do you know why she was so quiettoday?" I asked. Christopher shrugged. "Shedidn't want me to be there. She needs tofigure out how to accept that we're in thistogether and get over herself." He noddedhis head in agreement.Once in the apartment, Christopherjust wanted to play games on his phone."Christopher, can you please help meorganize these clothes?" I begged."No, LeighAnn.""This isn't our apartment." I argued."Is your mom here?" I stared at himwith a blank expression until he asked meagain: "LeighAnn is your mom here?""She will be." I don't usually do thingsfor my mom because well, she's not reallygood at being a parent. By that, I don'tmean that she's on drugs or an alcoholic, Ijust mean that she's crazy, not mentalasylum crazy, crazy like I-have-all-these-mental-problems crazy. She's a piece ofwork, and that's why I was raised by mygrandparents. Though, she's still my momand I have to prove to her that Christopherand I are taking care of her apartment sothat she'll keep paying for it."LeighAnn, can you get my charger?"Christopher asked."Are you going to help me with theseclothes?" I snapped. He groaned and tossedhis phone on the couch cushion thenstarted on his pile of laundry. It's sad that Ihave to ask a grown man to do his ownchores. I rolled my eyes at the thought.I heard the door knob start to turnand panicked, throwing the remainder ofthe laundry into our bedroom and closingthe door. My mom came in and lookedaround. We got into an argument, and theshe left. After that, Christopher entered thebedroom and went to sleep; I followed him, folding whatever was left of the massivelaundry pile. It was finally my turn to settle down, and just as I got comfortable, Christopherstarted snoring."Christopher! Christopher!" I tried. He didn't budge so I sat up and smackedhim as hard as I could on his back, right inbetween his shoulder blades. He awoke, startled."What LeighAnn?" He asked in thatsexy, sleepy voice most guys get rightbefore they fall asleep,"Shut the hell up. You're snoring, stop." He completely ignored me, and wentright back to snoring. After an almost restless night, it wastime to get ready for school. I struggled towake up Christopher, and then we arguedfor three minutes about why he needed toshower. Once he was in the shower, I threwon a teal floral shirt, grey skinny jeans, andwhite converse. I put half of my hair into abun and straightened the rest of it, leavingit down. I applied some heavy makeup and the followed Christopher down to thepathfinder.Christopher glanced over at me afterI aggressively threw my Vera Bradley bookbag into the back seat and then folded myarms."What's wrong now LeighAnn?""You kept me up all night snoring!""I'm sorry, I'm big, I snore." Hesnapped."Well maybe if you didn't eat shit!" Ihollered back. He rolled his eyes.Christopher is handsome, but even as anathlete, he's overweight. He can afford tomiss a few meals. We were arguing outside of firstperiod. Lyn was about to walk into classuntil she heard us arguing. She paused andfaced me."Who are you raising your voice at?" Ilooked back at her, puffed my chest, andraised my voice to her. Lyn's face turnedrosy. "I don't know who you're talking toolike that, but if I ever hear you talk to mybrother like that again, I will punch you inthe face, I don't care." She had her fingerpointed at me. I looked at the floor inembarrassment until she walked away."Lyn is toxic. I don't want you talkingto her." I told Christopher sternly."She's my sister, LeighAnn. Shedoesn't just go away." I rolled my eyes. He'salways making excuses.
