I woke up in Lyn's bed around 1 p.m. Iglanced around before noticing I was alone, wondering where she slept and what timeshe exited her room. I turned to my left andfound the nightstand she hid her journal in.I sat up and looked around again, to be sureI hadn't missed her. When I was certain shewas absent, I quietly opened the drawerand felt for her journal. I flipped throughthe pages but it was empty. I threw thejournal back into the drawer and pushedLyn's comforter aside. Outside of her room, I didn't see anysign of Lyn or her mom. The car was missingtoo. I went into the kitchen craving myspecial peanut butter and jelly mush."Hey!" Christopher shouted from thekitchen table. I jumped."Oh, I didn't see you.""Clearly. How'd you sleep?""Pretty well, actually." I responded, gathering my ingredients. "Where's Lyn andyour mom?""Shopping.""There's plenty of groceries here.""Not for groceries," Christopherexplained. "For new school clothes, Lyn iscoming back to school next year, so they'regetting new clothes.""When did they leave?""A couple of hours ago, so they'll beback in a little while." I mixed up my peanutbutter and jelly and tried to imagine whatLyn being back at school would be like and trying to hear all the rumors people wouldbe spreading about her."We're alone, you know."Christopher said, snapping me out of mydaydream."Oh," I responded, then grinnedsensually when I realized what he meant. Ijumped over the kitchen table, throwingmyself at him."Are you sure you want to do this? After all the trouble we got into last night?""We got into trouble because you'restupid.""Really LeighAnn? You're just asguilty.""Okay, whatever." I admitted. "Let'smake out." I had crawled completely overthe kitchen table now and was positioned inhis lap. He moved his hands to cuff mybottom as I pressed my lips to his. He stoodup, still holding me, as we made our way tohis bedroom, our lips never separating. Heslammed me onto his bed and then removed his shirt, then his shorts, then hisboxers and I did the same, and then again,we were one.We didn't finish before we heard Lynand her mom come home. We threw on ourclothes before they got to the door. A greataroma of food filled the house when theywalked in. I didn't know what it was, but itsmelled delicious. We wandered into the kitchen andthe scent became stronger. There wereshopping bags scattered all over the floor. Itappeared as if they'd bought the entire mall."Your mom bought all of this for Lyn?"I whispered to Christopher."No, Lyn bought it." He responded."How?" I asked, perplexed."She has always saved her money, from anything; birthdays, Christmas, dogsitting. She had her own philosophy thatshe might need it one day, and this was theday she chose to use it." I found myselfquite impressed by her logic and sort of peeking through the bags, her newwardrobe consisted of bright colors andanimal prints. She came around the cornerfrom her room dragging a tub of clothesfrom her old closet."The charity clothes are ready." Shesaid to her mom."What's a charity?" I asked."People who are less fortunate thanus." Christopher answered."Yeah, that's nothing you'd everknow about." Lyn snapped. I made asarcastic smirk at her."What's for dinner?" I asked hermom to change the subject."Barbeque sandwiches.""Oh," Christopher started. "LeighAnncan't eat that. It's against her religion to eatpork." He was correct. My grandma raisedme in a church that taught that theconsumption of pork was a sin, but whatwas one more sin? God would have toforgive me because even though I had never eaten pork before, something in theway it smelled had my body craving it."No, no, that's okay. I'll eat it. I'vealways wanted to try it.""But, your grandma-""My grandma isn't here." I said as Ipicked my spot at the kitchen table.Christopher's mom handed me my plateand I inhaled the delicious aroma oncemore. I waited for everyone to have theirplates before taking my first bite, and mymouth watered for more as the tableconversation started."So Christopher," his mom started."Have you figured out how you're going toget a new car?" before Christopher couldeven say anything, Lyn butted in."LeighAnn crashed it, she was driving."I gave her a death stare."I know." Her mom said."How do you know that?"Christopher freaked."I'm a mom. I know everything." "How does Lyn know that?"Christopher asked. I too, was curious aboutthis."A little birdy came to visit and stealmy bed last night. She told me as she fellasleep." Damn, I done told on myself. Islumped slightly in my chair as I realizedthat I was the only one who had alreadyfinished my sandwich."I think she liked it." The tablelaughed while I wiped the sides of mymouth with a napkin."There's more if you'd like."Christopher's mom offered. I nodded myhead and shot up, making my way to thebox and pork and destroying three more."Wow, you uh- you must've reallyliked those. You ate more than I did."Christopher said."It was something new. I enjoyedthem." After dinner, we cleaned up and thenChristopher and I went to his room to popin a movie and settle for bed.We both fell asleep during the movie, but I woke up eventually, Christopher wasundisturbed. The room was lit with justenough T.V. light for me to find my phoneand check the time. It was almost four a.m.The bright lights from my phone andthe T.V. were making me queasy, so Iturned them both off and laid back down, but the feeling intensified. I sat up, thinkingthat would help, but then my throat filledup, and I leaned over the edge of the bed, puking all over Christopher's floor.
