Sven's Backstory

Sven Svensson is one of the youngest Toppat leaders. He's also one of the most experienced and has been a Toppat for longer than most people.

How is this oxymoron possible? Simple. Sven was raised in the Toppat Clan.

Sven was adopted by Reginald and Right when he was very young, maybe five or six years old.

Terrence Suave, the leader of the Toppats back then, had sent the two on a random raid in Sweden. Why Sweden? We may never know. *Cough cough* Plot convenience *Cough cough*

Anyway, when they got there, they found what was practically a warzone. Two or three or twelve separate groups-it was hard to tell in the chaos- were fighting over a giant red ruby that was probably worth millions.

Reginald and Right- not wanting to go back empty handed (and wanting a giant ruby)- went to steal the ruby from everyone else. But as they started walking toward the battlefield, they heard an odd sound.

They heard the sound of a child crying.

Reg and Right may have been thieves, but they weren't heartless. Without any conscious thought or agreement, they both went to find the source of the crying.

They found a child, maybe five or so, with blonde hair and startling blue eyes. The child was sitting in an otherwise empty house, obviously scared of the fighting going on outside.

Reginald crouched down next to the child to comfort him. The child attached to Reg quickly, but it became clear he didn't know English.

Through a bit of rough communicating and slight guess work, Right and Reg figured out the child's name- Sven.

A nearby gunshot startled the young child, and he buried his face in Reginald's chest, crying.

Reginald had no clue what to do, and for once neither did Right.

After a few minutes of conversation, they decided that there was nothing to do but take Sven back with them. They couldn't just leave the kid here, and how were they supposed to find his parents in this mess? There was no way.

So that's how Reg and Right literally illegally adopted a child.

To their surprise, Terrence didn't care. He basically just waved them off when they told him what had happened.

"Whatever. So long as I don't have to do anything," The former Toppat leader had said. "Anyway, Razzy and Blackberry would love a friend."

Slightly confused but relieved, Right and Reg went to explain to Sven that he would be staying here with them.

It was a very frustrating process, trying to raise a child who didn't speak English. But eventually Sven started learning, and the other two picked up a bit of Swedish, and it all clicked together.

Sven became very close friends with Burt and Charles, the only other people on the airship (Since that was the central power of the Toppat Clan back then) that were close to his age. Sven's feelings for Burt eventually grew into something more than friendship. Unfortunately, Burt was- is- somewhat oblivious.

Frustrating love life aside, Sven was a talented young man and quickly picked up the ropes of becoming a successful Toppat. His fathers- he would never think of them as anything else- may have just been simple workers, not high ranking or low ranking, just middle class Toppats. But they both had excellent leadership skills, which he learned from them.

When he was 16- Burt and Charles 17- and the start of the rally for a transition of power began, Sven sided with his fathers. Terrence and Harrison were bad leaders- to put it bluntly. He knew that whoever replaced them would be better.

When Terrence tried to kill Reginald, Sven was frozen with terror. He couldn't move, he couldn't try to help, he couldn't do anything.

When Burt jumped in front of the bullet, the spell was broken. Sven ran over to his best friend and the love of his life. (Jeez, that sounds so cheesy lmao)

While Burt was in the hospital, Reginald and Right trying to adjust to being the new leaders in the Toppat Clan, Sven spent almost all of his free time sitting in the hospital room, waiting for Burt to wake up.

After about three or so weeks, Burt still hadn't woken up. The doctors told Sven that there was always a chance that he could pull through, but that he should be prepared for the worst.

Sven was nearly heartbroken when the doctors told him that, but refused to accept it. Until he was actually dead, there was always a chance.

When Burt finally woke up, Sven's nerves were stretched to the snapping point. There was so much that he'd had to do to help his dads with the transition of leaders, so many projects and so many problems. Sure, he was still technically a minor, but he was a full-fledged member of the Toppat Clan and wasn't exempt from work.

Sven had really never dealt well with stress and deadlines. He had major perfectionism and anxiety, and often ended up having breakdowns about simple things. Heavens pray he never had to do something like launch a rocket by himself. Knowing him, he would end up dropping dead from exhaustion either as soon as it was done or halfway through because he was running off straight coffee not having slept more that ten minutes consecutively in over a month.

So when Burt woke up, Sven almost immediately started crying, both of happiness and because he couldn't form a coherent thought due to sleep deprivation.

Afterwards, everything went relatively back to normal.

Until a certain Stickmin crashed into the airship and the entire Toppat Clan practically flipped upside down.
