Barry awoke as fast as the lightning hit his chest, or at least that's what he thought. He woke up in S.T.A.R Labs, surrounded by equipment that looked very sophisticated. A voice called out, "Hey! He's awake!" That voice was the voice of Cisco Ramon, he was one of the people monitoring Barry while he was asleep. "Don't bother him too much, he might get scared and use his quirk to run away." a girls voice said. Barry was confused by this, he didn't have a quirk, did the lightning scars make her think he had a quirk related to that? Barry finally woke up fully and saw who was talking to him. "Hey, i'm Cisco, and this is Katlin. My quirk is vibe and her quirk is ice creation. We took care of you while you were in your coma." Cisco said. Barry was confused, he was just now given the information that he was in a coma, and for how long? He decided to ask, "How long have I been in this coma for?" "4 months, you still have 3 months of school left, so you're not off the hook." Barry realized what this meant, he didn't have enough time to train himself to become strong enough without a quirk. It was hopeless for him to even try to get into DA, he believed Superman and Billy were right. "Oh, and if you're worried about training to get into Hero school, your quirk is amazing for that! You should have no worries." Cisco said. "Stop making fun of me, you know I have no chance of getting in without a quirk, did quirkless become a quirk while I was under?" Barry snarled. He wasn't fond of these people he barely knew making fun of him. "What do you mean? I'm pretty sure Super-Speed was always a quirk." Katlin said.
"Super-Speed?" Barry questioned, he was sure that he didn't have a quirk when he was struck by lightning, so why now? "Yeah, it's rare but it's insanely strong, it's versatile based on the effects of the speed." Cisco said. "Effects?" Barry asked. "Whether it's normal speed, or a part of the speed force, for example. If it generates lightning is also another factor as well." Katlin answered. Barry decided to check this out for himself. "Thanks for all the help!" Barry said. "Wait! We still need to check yo-" Katlin said. Barry was already gone by then, it seemed they weren't messing with him. He moved insanely fast, the faster he went, the more time slowed around him. It felt amazing, having a quirk, he wondered how he got it, but now wasn't the time for questioning. He started traveling all the way back home, excited to reveal his quirk to Joe and Iris. But then he realized, he was being followed by someone. He looked up and realized Superman was right above him, watching while surprised.
Superman congratulated Barry on somehow awakening his quirk. Barry was sure that's not what happened, but went along with it anyways. Superman thought to himself, he still hadn't found that sludge monster, but in the same amount of time, this young man had defied all odds and gained a quirk, proving people without a quirk could still achieve the impossible, he felt stupid for crushing his dreams. That's when Superman decided to help the man achieve his goal, it's only fair he helps the one who proved him wrong. Superman the said, "Young man, you too can become a hero, you defied all odds and gained a quirk, although it may prove too much for your body, I promise to train you to the best of my ability, but only if you can accept that fact."
Barry cried and the tears that hit the floor, marked the beginning of a great journey.
Then, suddenly, Superman started coughing and smoke came off of his body, the sad reminder of the days to come.
