Barry arrived at the front gate of DA, it was so close to him, but he knew how far it actually was from his reach. He knew that if he tried hard enough, he could grab the future DA could provide him. He walked inside the borders of the school, luckily he had a visitors pass sent to him before the exams by DA, and the security system didn't activate. "Get out of the way, idiot.", Barry recognized that voice, he looked behind him. Billy was standing there, with an evil glint in his eye. "Did you hear me? I said get out of the way." Billy said. "Yes, I did" Barry said firmly, he wasn't going to back down this time. Billy was surprised by this, but it made him even more aggressive. "Listen, I heard you 'saved' me in that slime incident, I don't believe it one bit, but I can't confirm anything since I had passed out" Billy started, "If you really managed to get me out of there before Superman arrived, I want you to know that changes nothing, you're still a quirkless wannabe that won't get into DA." Billy walked right past Barry, but he noticed it wasn't the same as before, Barry was still standing tall, and that really pissed him off.
Barry was nervous and a bit scared after what Billy had said, but he knew he had to try anyways. I will become a hero worthy to be the next Superman, I promise! He thought. He walked a bit more but then started tripping on his shoelaces, or i'll just die, he thought. Suddenly he was caught from the fall by an arm that was surprisingly strong. He looked up and saw a...girl! Barry then realized what was happening and scrambled back to his feet. "Um, hi there, I hope you don't mind my catching you." the girl said.
"Oh no, it was actually really helpful! Thanks." Barry said. "It's no problem, oh and I almost forgot to mention, maybe tie your shoes." the girl said. "Oh, I will." Barry said. "Well anyways, see you during the entrance exams!" the girl said as she ran towards the building. Crap, he had forgotten to ask for her name. It didn't really matter though, to him, it was his first conversation to a girl other than Iris, and that was a step towards becoming a hero, or at least that's what he managed to convince himself.
It took about 10 minutes before the presentation began, but once it did, Pro Hero Elongated man came out to the stage. "HEY THERE, POTENTIAL DA STUDENTS!!!" Elongated man yelled, expecting a cheer right back towards him, but no response. "I expected everyone to be more excited about this but I guess not." Barry knew it was just because everyone was at least 14, and that was a bit embarrassing. He didn't care though and was going to yell back at him, but then realized Billy was sitting right in front of him. "Anyways, as you know we'll be testing your quirk capabilities. It's a special test that will pit you brats against a bunch of lean-mean killing machines. Or just machines, whichever you prefer calling them." Elongated man said. A screen showed up right behind him showing 3 robots and a black silhouette. "The small robots will get you 1 point, medium will get you 2 points, and large will get you 3 points. It will take place in a ruined area so feel free to use your quirk to the maximum potential, since you're fighting robots you can go all out." Elongated man explained. "Now, if that's all, go split up into assigned gro-" Barry noticed a young man dressed in all green and... had an arrow pack on his back, stood up and started talking. "Excuse me, sir, but I don't think that's all, there's still that oddly ominous silhouette, if a teacher here forgot about it, I think that's highly troubling. DA is supposed to be the best and this mistake is a problem, also, you." The young man pointed at Barry. "You've been muttering to yourself almost the entire presentation, if you're going to waste your time here, I suggest you pack it up right now." "S-sorry." Barry said. Elongated man sighed, "What's your name, kid." The young man answered, "Oliver Queen, Sir."
"Well, that silhouette is actually the giant robot, sadly it gives no points, it's more of a giant obstacle for you to avoid. Any more concerns?" Elongated man answered. "No sir." Oliver said. Barry thought to himself, great, now I'm making enemies before the exams even begin. Luckily, Barry and Billy were separated by group. When he got to the battle area, he saw that girl who caught him earlier was there, and he started walking towards her to ask for her name. He felt a hand on his shoulder, "You shouldn't interrupt, she's hyping herself up so she can do her best." Barry once again recognized the voice, he looked behind him and saw Oliver. "You're that Oliver guy from the presentation." Barry said. "Yes, I am, and I suggest you get ready for this, it won't be easy." "Right." Barry said. He walked up to the giant door, the door that would open and let him inside of the ruined area, the door that would open a pathway to his dreams.
He wasn't wearing anything flashy, just a read tracksuit with yellow highlights. The people around him just had one look at him, and felt sorry. Barry could hear their whispering, "Look at that guy, he doesn't look strong at all" "His quirk is probably the power to look incredibly average" '3' "It's even possible he's trying to get in without a quirk, but he doesn't look that strong" '2' "His arms look frail, his legs I can't even see, but they're probably the same." '1' Barry wouldn't let this discourage him, he would get into DA and become the gre- 'GO'
Barry hadn't realized it, but the countdown had already started while he was thinking, everyone rushed around him. He was pushed around and eventually ended up on the ground, not a great start. He then ran into the area, saving his quirk for later. A 3-pointer showed up and attacked Barry, he had to use his quirk to dodge, he ran around it and went for a high-speed kick. It barely even hurt it, he wasn't fast enough to deal damage to the metal. The robot was about to make mincemeat out of Barry but then a laser beam went right through it and exploded, Barry recognized who did it, it was that Cisco guy from S.T.A.R Labs. "We make a great team, don't we?" Cisco said. He then created a portal and jumped through it.
Barry ran to the center of the area, first, he saw the girl that saved him earlier use laser eyes to blow up a robot, also hearing that she had about 20 points, he then saw Oliver shooting explosive arrows at the robots, never missing a single shot. He also heard that he had 37 points. Then he saw another guy blowing it up with his mind, another one using what looked like magic and another one punching straight through one. They had 10, 12 and 23 points, Barry knew with this, he was in dead last.
For the next 5 minutes Barry ran around, trying to find a one pointer that might be weak to his kick, but to no avail. Suddenly, he saw a flash of red lightning, and inside, was him. Barry saw the man in the yellow suit once again.
Barry ran after him, twisting and turining through narrow corners, but he wasn't even close to as fast as him. All he saw was him throw a green rock over a building, and he ran over the wall. With that, Barry fell to the ground, on his knees, crying out in defeat. That man had managed to get past the DA security and throw something foreign inside, he wasn't sure if anyone even saw him. Then he heard a crash, and a giant robot threw debris everywhere around the arena, a few meters in front of Barry.
Everyone was running away from the scene, but Barry was frozen, from the shock of the robot and seeing the man once more, he was ridden with defeat. Oliver passed Barry, looking at him once before using a grappling hook arrow to get to higher ground, he could've saved him but decided that getting points was more important at the time. If this was the real thing, he would've saved him for sure. Barry then saw the girl from earlier, stuck under debris near the robot, with that green rock right next to her. Barry then thought, could that green rock possibly be kryptonite? It didn't matter, he had to run, but instead of running away, he decided to run towards the robot, he had to save that girl.
Barry ran faster and faster, if he slowed down, he wouldn't be able to save the girl fast enough. Moving debris wasn't enough, even if he could move it he wasn't fast enough to get them both out of there. He ran and ran, faster and faster, lightning started showing up behind him, but for some reason, his bones weren't dislocating. He ran so fast, he started to run up a building, but then, he tripped on his untied shoelaces. He tripped and launched off the top of the building, right towards the robots face, he thought he was about to become a splatter on it's face, and braced for impact. But instead of becoming a human tomato, he passed right through it.
Barry didn't know what happened, but he was falling, and fast. In his hand was a core of some sort, he didn't know what it was, but it seemed to make the robot start falling over, and it was going to fall on him. He looked for a way to land, but nothing, he looked around and nothing came to his mind. He then realized, if he could throw the core at the green rock, and make it so the girl's power could come back, she might save him. Barry aimed, and threw the ball, but instead, a lightning bolt sliced right through it and headed towards the kryptonite, disintegrating it.
His plan worked, the girl regained strength and managed to jump to get him out of the way in time. With the robot falling all the way right when the landed. They both then heard the announcer say, "10 seconds!" The girl the vaulted over a building in a hurry. Barry was too battered up to move, all he could do was wait until the time ran out, with him sitting at 0 points.
