Chapter 13 - happy birthday.

It was January 19th and onyx were ready to celebrate her birthday with a sleep over that was happening at Gwen's house. Her parents were out of town and she was inviting their 8 Pearson friend group. She packed her things and went for the house at around 5:00 PM. And Gwen welcomed her in. "so what's on the agenda tonight." She asked "were going to try a bunch of different things. As long as the house isn't a wreck when my parents come back on Sunday, we'll be fine." Gwen explained. "well, what's first?" Elizabeth asked, "first is a bake off, two teams try to make the best dish." Gwen explained.

"onyx and Elizabeth will be the leaders, ted and Olivia will be the judges." Gwen explained "I'll take my girlfriend and Brian." Elizabeth said as she gave Gwen a small kiss on the cheek. Gwen blushed and onyx took Jessica and Amy. "so, what are we going to bake?" Jessica asked. "I was thinking cupcakes, you two want to decide the flavour?" she asked, "I say chocolate." Amy responded. "Shure, what about you Jessica?" "I don't know, let's just go with the chocolate." Jessica responded but it took the other team a while to figure out what they were making. One it was all decided the group went out to the store.

The two teams split off and went to find the items they needed while Oliva tagged along. "so, what are you guys doing?" she asked, "where going to make chocolate chip cupcakes." Onyx responded as she grabbed the chocolate chips. "nice." Oliva responded. "aren't you vegan?" Jessica asked, "I'm vegetarian." "what's the difference?" Amy asked, "a vegan won't eat any animal related product, a vegetarian can have things like milk and chocolate as long as it doesn't have any animal parts." Onyx explained "to put it simply, I don't have meat, and that's it." Olivia explained. They found the items and payed for it all and they waited at the door for Elizabeth's team, but they were still looking for the eggs, so their team left as onyx had a key to the house from when she lived there. When they got in, they started to get a start on the cupcakes. Onyx was very informative, and she helped to make Shure the cupcakes where the best they could be. The eggs where beaten well, the batter was not to thick or to smooth and the chocolate chips where spread evenly. After tasting the batter, Amy placed the batter into the cupcake cases, after washing the spoon. They put the cupcakes in the oven and soon the other team entered.

"what happened to you guys?" Olivia asked, "the moved the store around for the 5th time this week." Gwen responded as they started on the cake. Onyx's team decided to turn off the oven and wait for the other team to be done and when they had made their cake, they turned the oven back on and sat in a circle to play truth or dare. "all right onyx your first, truth or dare." "truth, I hate doing dares." She responded. "all right." Olivia responded, "where are you really from." Onyx gave her a look of too soon, but she still explained "I'm from a mother dimension, according to all of the other core bearers." She explained "all right my turn." She continued "Olivia, do you have a crush on anybody." "nope, not yet. Although there is this one guy..." she said but nobody asked further the cakes where done after not too long and they all started to eat them up. "I think the cupcakes win, they just have a better texture to them." Ted said after having a cupcake and a slice of cake. "same here." Olivia responded.

"I thought so." Amy said high fiving onyx. "all right what's next?" Brian asked "we are going to..." but before she could finish, she was cut off by onyx's phone buzzing. "I've got to take this." She said walking out of the room. "what's up pearl." She asked, "I was just checking in. how've you've been, aqua told me about the fight." "when I go back into school tomorrow, I'm going to get some kind of punishment, but it'll be worth it." she explained "well, how's the communicator coming along." Pearl asked "you're lucky I'm curious. It's picking up steam but I'm still rewriting the code knowing I'm trying to get a single through the dimensions." "so, they told you?" "no, I figured it out on my own, there was too much evidence for it to be anything else." "well before I go, happy birthday." "thanks." She said hanging up.

"do you want to continue Gwen?" she asked sitting back down. "I think everybody's beat. It's getting late." "is it?" onyx responded, "you don't need sleep, or food, or water." Ted reminded her. "fair point." Everybody went to to her parents room and the bathroom and waited outside while they got changed one by one. "you guys reedy for sleep because we can delay it longer." Gwen asked but Olivia and Elizabeth where already asleep. They were all soon asleep, and onyx looked in her bag where the speed core was, and she took it. she ran back to the house where she continued to work on the machine for a few hours when she headed back before anybody woke up.

"all right guys, time to wake up. Schools in an hour." She said waking everybody, but Jessica woke up. "should we wake her?" Elizabeth asked, "I'll give her a few more minutes." Onyx said carefully placing the speed core in her bag. Everybody got up and dressed and while most got breakfast, Amy and Olivia skipped it. "you two don't eat breakfast or something?" ted asked eating his chocolate coated cereal. "I've been living under a bridge for the past few months, you learn to skip breakfast." "what?" Gwen asked confused. "did he not tell you?" she asked pointing at Brian. "I thought you did" responded Brian. "why wouldn't you tell me this?" Gwen asked "I was scared but thanks to the big man there, I managed to go to the adoptive centre. You might like it their onyx." "well, I've got my own thing going on and a new family. Even though we don't legally exist." She explained. They all left for the school.
