Travis's pov.

I let her win, of course. I didn't care though; the night was amazing! I would have never thought I would actually get to bring her there. I didn't even think I would ever go back there, that it would bring back too many painful memories. It did, but they weren't as bad with Katie there with me. I can still remember the day we build the place. It was a sunny day, a few weeks after Conner and I got to camp, I was about 13; Beckendorf 14. He was my only friend then, besides Conner- but he made friends easier than I did. Beckendorf came into my cabin and woke me up really early. "Come on Travis! I gotta show ya something!" He ended up taking me to that now familiar place. "Dude, what are we doing here?" I ask him laughing. "I was up all night making blueprints!" He showed me the blueprints for the shack, that are currently in my truck by my bed... It took us that whole summer to build it, just me and him. I shake off those memories, self-pity can't change anything...

After breakfast, I start my daily chores. After I'm done, I go down the arena practice. Lately, I've been practicing my swordsmanship. The war really shook me up, especially when the only weapon I had was my dagger but when It broke...it's left me with nothing. Ever since, I've tried to find a replacement, but nothing has ever fit...except a sword. I found it in the woods, and something just clicked. I stab a dummy, than other one. I practice for about an hour until I have sweat dripping off of me. I take off my shirt and keep going. After a while, I hear footsteps and I turn to see who it is. When I see her my heart does a little flip. "hey." "hey." I say back, still out of breath. She smiles and hands me a cold water bottle. "thanks." I smile back at her and take a drink. Suddenly her smile fades into a concerned face. "what?" I ask. "What happened? When..." She looks at my scar that runs through my chest and down to my stomach. And i'm suddenly speechless. I remember the day I got it, the day conner and I ran away...
