the first day of the survey corps, you didn't think you'd make it this far to be honest. your hands were clammy as you around by other cadets, some taller, some shorter, all way out of your league.
"alright cadets, stop looking so goddamn miserable and show your honour!" an extremely tall man had yelled in your direction. making your hand raise to your chest.
"sir yes sir!"
"i'm alexander nox, just call me commander alex, i don't want to train you morons but i was told to." he groans and you already hated the guy. looking beside you, a guy with neon green hair stood next to you, a cheeky grin on his face.
"wipe that smug smile on your face before i slap it off of you."
his smile dropped instantly, instead replaced with a "sincere" smirk.
"aye, sorry compadre, just excited to finally be here." he was eager, to say the least, almost bursting at the seam to get started. alex just glared him down, ignoring him and turning to no other than you.
"you're quiet, what's your motivation to be here?"
you gulped, staring into his eyes as you took a deep breath.
"sir! i want to protect our walls and protect our people! this place means the world to me and i wouldn't trade it for anything else. i joined to be a hero. i want to exterminate the titans!" you explained, a small smile on your face, secretly hoping that he didn't see how nervous you were.

you let out a sigh of relief as he left, causing the glowstick beside you to laugh.
"you were so tense amiga/amigo, don't feel so nervous," he chuckled, it lightened the mood a little, which made you feel a whole lot better. "name is octavio silva, yours?"
"y/n l/n, nice to meet you octavio."
"alright cadets! it's time for your training!"
you tensed up again, shuddering as you watched everyone take turns trying out the 'odm' gear, which was really just a few wires you were attached to, just to get used to the feeling.
