A nightmare beyond the others

I looked at the piles of ash. "What happened here? How did they-" I heard a sound coming from close by. "Hello?" I noticed a piece of white armor sticking out from behind a bush. "Blaster blade?" His head popped out.

"Ah, young vanguard. How are you?" He seemed pretty worn out. 

"What happened here? Who are all the units that are-" I pointed to the piles of ash, not wanting to say the 'd' word.

"They are Aqua Force. Waterfall and I had to fight them off."

"Where is Waterfall?" I startedt to look around.

"He went to try and get the other clans together to help us as well." I nodded at him.

"So what is it that we should do?"

"Sleep, for now. I think you have earned it."

"As have you young vanguard. I know of what you did in the human world." He smiled at me. 

"Ok. Now sleep my friend. The war will continue tomorrow for us. For now, sleep." We both went into the cave, and fell asleep. I tossed and turned, bad dream after bad dream waking me. Then, another came on me, but I didn't wake. I looked upon two blank figures, shadows really. They had no face or skin, just black masses.

"You can't win. The Aqua Force have already got this in the bag." The voice came from the right mass, but it couldn't talk. It had no mouth.

"I can't allow that to happen." This came from the left one. "The nova grapplers have promised to help take you down, and we shall do just that." He pulled a deck out of thin air, and the other one did as well. 

"We shall let the cards decide for us."

"Agreed." They both set down their starting vanguard on a fight table. They then shuffled and drew their first hand. 

"Ready?"

"I'm ready to end a pathetic clan such as yours anytime."

"Stand up, vanguard!" 

"Officer cadet, erikk"

"Battleraiser."

"I go first. Stand and draw." The mass stopped for a minute. "I ride tear knight, theo. Erikk's skill moves him back." He pulled the card right behind the vanguard. "I end my turn."

"I stand and draw." It stopped as well. "I ride custom raizer. Battleraiser moves back." It pulled it back behind the vanguard as well. "My vanguard's skill doubles his power if battleraizer is in the same column as him. I attack with my vanguard."

"No guard."

"Drive check, perfect raizer."

"Damage check, coral assault."

"I end my turn."

"I stand and draw. I ride tear knight, lazarus. I call matchless trench titian. My vanguard will attack with a boost from erikk."

"No guard."

"Drive check, blue storm dragon, maelstrom."

"Damage check, burst raizer." 

"I attack with titan."

"No guard. Damage check, screamin and dancin anouncer, shout."

"I end my turn."

"I stand and draw. I ride hi-powered custom raiser. His skill is the same as the last. I call transraizer. His skill lets me check the top card, and if it is grade one or two I can call it." It flipped over the top card to reveal another transraizer. "I call it to the other side. Now his skill." It checked again, and this time it was a tough boy. "I call it behind my right rear guard. I call burst raizer to my other slot. I attack with transraizer boosted by burst raizer at your rear guard."

"No guard." It dropped the rear guard into the damage zone.

"I attack with my vanguard. His skill also doubles because of battleraizer."

"No guard."

"Drive check, minimum raizer. I give the critical to my vanguard and the power to my rear guard."

"Damage check. First check, deck sweeper. Second check, sea otter soldier. I give the power to my vanguard and draw a card."

"I attack with my other rear guard boosted by tough boy."

"I guard with battleship intelligence."

"I end my turn."

"I stand and draw. I ride blue storm dragon, maelstrom. I call out deck sweeper. I attack with maelstrom boosted by deck sweeper."

"No guard."

"Twin drive. First check, supersonic sailor. All effects to my vanguard. Second check, battleship intelligence. I give all effects to vanguard."

"Damage check. First check, battleraizer. The power to my vanguard. Second check, wall boy. The power to my vanguard and heal one. Third check, wallboy. I give the power to my vanguard and heal."

"I end my turn."

"I stand and draw. I ride perfect raizer. His skill moves all other raizers on my field to the soul. That is  four other raizers to the two in my soul. He is gaining another 18000 power and a critical. I call out custom raizer. I call moai the great, miss splendor, and tough boy. With tough boy's boost, moai attacks."

"No guard. Damage check, blue storm dragon, maelstrom."

"I attack with perfect raizer boosted by custom raizer."

"No guard."

"Twin drive. First check, perfect raizer. Second check, miss splendor."

"Damage check. First check, sea otter soldier. I give the power to my vanguard and draw. Second check, battleship intelligence. I give the effects to my vanguard."

"I end my turn." 

"Final turn." I drew a card. "I stand and draw. Stand up my avatar! Crossride! Blue storm supreme dragon, glory maelstrom. I attack with glory maelstrom boosted by deck sweeper. Sweeper's skill allows me to soul blast one to give another 6000 power to the attack. Now, ULTIMATE BREAK! I counterblast one and my vanguard gains 5000 power and a crit. But, there is another skill. You can't guard with units that are grade 1 or higher."

"No!"

"Yes."

"No guard."

"Twin drive. First check, glory. Seond check, supersonic soldier. I give all effects to my vanguard."

"Damage check. First check, perfect raizer. Second check, wall boy. I give the power to my vanguard."

"But you can't heal."

"No I can't. Final check,  battleraizer." The cards fell to the table as the black mass melted away. The other one turned to me, and then morphed into glory maelstrom himself. 

"So young vanguard. You finally came. I see you have still yet to find yourself." He turned away. "You won't be able to stand a chance against us if you don't even know who you really are." He vanished, and I woke up.

"Are you alright young one?" I looked up at Blaster blade.

"Yeah. I'm fine. I have a question though."

"What is it?"

"Have I unlocked my full potential yet?"

"Only you can answer that one. But, I think that you still have something to learn before you have found who you really are."

"Thank you." I sat back down, and then found myself sitting on my bed with a bunch of blank cards sitting on my desk. "What are these for?" I felt a connection for them though. Then, a blinding light shot out of the cards. "I think I can use these quite well."
