My eyes fluttered open, the sight of the bright sun blinding my view as it reflected off of my circular mirror onto my eyes. I felt a gentle tongue lick my nose causing me to look down. There stood my calico cat, Katerina named after the one and only, Katerina Petrova. My father always talked rather horribly about this woman as I have heard many times he called her a "raging bitch from hell" but I rather consider her to be my idol. I mean, she took control of Hell itself, quite the badass if you ask me. You can imagine my father wasn't pleased to hear I named my cat after her, maybe that's why she hates him so much. Katherine probably reincarnated as her or something.
I reach my hand out and pet her soft, colorful fur as she purrs. Her hazel eyes began to glisten in the sunlight. "Good morning Kitty" I greeted her with a small smile. I rub my eyes awake when a thought popped into my head, one that made me nervous but extremely excited. "Holy crap. I get to go to Hogwarts today!"
I sat up in shock for a few moments taking it in. This would be my first time attending a school, ever. Minus a couple of months my parents tried to put me in an all-girls boarding school, but quickly realized it was not fitting for me. Their main use of vocabulary there was "That isn't ladylike Mikaelson!" or "You will never be a good wife Mikaelson!" The key term, "wife", but my mum, Tabitha Bennett, being the powerful witch that she is, decided that I should learn how to be just as strong and independent as she. So, all my life I have been homeschooled by her. Not saying that I didn't enjoy her company, but it would be nice to meet some new people once in a while.
I am now thirteen years old, but I have been receiving letters from Hogwarts since I was eleven. My Father, Klaus Mikaelson, being the protective twat that he is wouldn't allow me to attend until finally, my mum convinced him. Though I do understand my father's reasoning, he just wants to keep me safe.
Though it will be my first year attending Hogwarts, I will be attending as a third year. I have always been good at keeping up with my studies, so I will be all caught up.
I quickly lifted myself off my bed as I slipped my feet into my faux fur slippers. Katerina jumped down from my king-sized bed and trailed over to my cushy white chair surrounded by a variety of hanging plants. My eyes followed her until they landed on an outfit, neatly placed on the chair. 'It must have been one of the house elves.' I thought as I walked towards the corner of my room where my chair was placed.
The outfit consisted of a plaid dark brown pleated skirt, a black halter top, and a black leather blazer. I picked it up and put it on, finishing off the outfit with gold earrings and black Doc Martens. I looked in my full body mirror making sure I was happy with the final look. I hear a knock at my door, "Come in it's unlocked" I say carefully pinning my hair up. I assumed it was one of the house elves so I started to thank them, but when I heard no response I turned my head to see my mum leaning against the door frame twisting her long, brunette hair around her finger with a small smirk on her face. "Oh, mum!" I said a little startled. "I didn't know you were home." "Yeah, I thought I would leave you with a little going away present, so I bought you this outfit I knew you would like." she said lifting herself off of the door frame "After all, you get your good sense of style from your mother." she winked and I came over and wrapped my arms around her. "Thank you, mum." My mum wasn't wrong, she does have a good sense of style and is quite beautiful for her age.
We let go of each other once we both heard sudden footsteps emerging from down the hall. My mum stepped aside to reveal my father slowly walking towards the entrance of my room with his hands behind his back strutting with pride.
My face turned from confusion to utter happiness as I ran towards him and he opened his arms wide for me to jump into them. "Dad! You're early, I thought you were supposed to be in New Orleans for another month?" I questioned him, still excited from his surprise visit. "I wasn't going to miss my little wolf's first day at Hogwarts." he smiled and I hugged him again.
I barely see my father as he is always in the US doing work and such he rarely comes to visit, but when he does he always stays at the manor with mum and me. My father turned to my mother and gave her a smirk, "Tabitha" He said with an unamused tone. "Klaus" My mother glared before they both burst out laughing giving each other a welcoming hug. "Nice to see you love." He grinned wide "and you," My mother replied. Though they are not romantically involved in any way, my mother and father put their differences aside and are now the best of friends.
"I have to finish getting ready," I say to them and they nod, venturing downstairs to wait for me. I put on little makeup, some light mascara, and blush with a little bit of concealer to cover up a couple of pimples I started to gain during puberty.
Though I am only thirteen, I have developed a lot since last year. I slimmed down, my waist got smaller, my hips got wider, I grew into my baby fat, and gained good bone structure on my face. Overall, I looked good, and I knew it.
I take my bag to the front of my room for one of the house elves to pick it up. I walked over to a small crate and opened the little door for Katerina to walk right in. She does so and I pet her soft head one more time before closing the door. "Hello Miss" one of the house elves greeted me with a smile. "Hello, Marva! And please, call me Purity." I replied smiling at her. "Oh! Of course Mi- I mean Purity." We both let out a little chuckle and she brought my stuff downstairs. I followed not so far behind, carrying Katerina's crate in my left hand and my wand in my right. As I walked down the grand staircase covered in a variety of vines and greenery I practiced simple spells blooming petite flowers on each vine. I ran my hand gracefully down the railing causing little plants to grow as my finger touched the metal.
"Darling, if you keep doing that the whole house will be a forest." My mum glared at me. "Wouldn't that be wonderful?" I said imagining the beauty. "Plants cascading down every corner of the manor." I let out a long exhale and placed my wand back in the pocket of my blazer.
My father smirked and opened the door for me holding one arm behind his back. I smiled at him and skipped to the limousine. The car started and I stared at my beautiful manor, vines cascading down the walls and flowers covering the courtyard. I was lost reminiscing all of the memories I made there, but it was time for a new chapter.
Hogwarts here I come.
