Cold

My mind swarmed with contemplation. Exhilaration flooded from my eyes scanning the parchment to my fingertips grasping the letter addressed to me from my uncle. My uncle! I have never known any family besides Mum and Dad, and now I have an uncle, possibly more.

Though, something about his words confused me. I reread the one line that baffled me completely:

I have been aware my brother Niklaus had another daughter for months now.

What could that possibly mean? I scratch my head in frustration. Am I not my father's only child; daughter? Do I have a sister? "I knew Dad was hiding my family from me, but a sister? A SISTER!?" I mumbled angrily to myself. I ran my fingers through my dark curls and sighed. My hands fell onto the desk in front of me. Sadness overcame me and I collapsed onto my small desk chair. Why would he lie to me about this? "I always knew that he didn't truly care about me. Now I know why."

Cold tears escape my eyes and flood down my cheeks. I fold my arms on the desk and bury my tear-stained face. The perfect explanation for why he was never around. He had another family. Obviously, they were far more important. "You don't need to know Purity. I am protecting you Purity." I mocked. "BULLSHIT!" I slammed my fist onto the wooden surface.

Although my fists, hot and clenched, held so much sadness; they shook. My lower lip trembled as I bit down on it attempting to contain my sobs. I held up my wand and pointed it towards a small box of tissues on my bedside table. Swish and flick, "Wingardium Leviosa." I croaked. The box levitated toward my hunched body. Once the box hovered above the desk in front of me I grabbed a tissue and wiped my tears.

I left the box levitating and picked up my quill and dabbed it in a bit of ink. I pulled out a blank piece of parchment and began writing.

THE MORNING OF THE THIRD TASK

"Purity, wake up." I groan and turn over in my green comforter. Hands land on my shoulders and shake me gently, "Come on. Purity, wake up." I recognized the voice as Millicent. I stay still and continue to pretend to sleep, hopefully, long enough so they would leave me alone with my soft pillow.

"She can sleep through anything." Dina huffs. I feel something slim hitting the side of my face, but attempt to control my facial features; though they desperately want to wrinkle. Is she poking me? Are you serious?

"Damn, is she like a rock or something?" a familiar voice jokes from across the room. Blaise? What the hell is he doing here? "Oi Malfoy, she's your girlfriend you wake her up."

Was that Theo? What the fuck is everyone doing here so early?

"No way I'm not waking her up. She gets extra bitchy in the morning."

That little-

"Wow, how sweet of you Dragon boy. Just wait until she actually wakes up and I tell her what you said." Dina threatened.

Thank you, Dina. Sucks for him that I'm already awake.

"Alright, alright I'll do it. I'm not trying to get punched today." I could hear Draco's steps grow louder as he approached my bed. "Darling, darling, wake up." His minty breath fans across the side of my face. I turn my head to the other side and adjust my position on the bed.

His fingers lovingly move a piece of my hair behind my ear. His hand gently strokes my long hair and moves down to my shoulder. He caressed my upper arm and whispered, "I know you're awake Purity."

"No. No, I'm not." I whispered, doing my best to halt my growing smirk. "Darling, wake up or I'll tell the whole school you slept with Crabbe." He whispered. With that last statement I shot my body up immediately, "I'm up, I'm up!" I lifted myself off of the bed and stood to face my boyfriend. "I am only getting up because people at this school believe everything that comes out of your pathetic ferret mouth." I poke my finger in his chest and he chuckles. "Don't ever bring that up again." he snarled. "Hmm, okay ferret boy." I fold my arms.
