Sorry, it's been a while, but I hope you enjoy this long chapter. I had been looking forward to this chapter. There is a lot more dialogue because I really want you guys to get to know some of the characters more.  Enjoy :)

As the days passed by, the Yule Ball drew nearer. During breakfast, our poised family owl, Lenida, swooped in and dropped off a present from my mother. I waited to open it until I reached the secrecy of my dorm. I placed the large box onto my four-poster bed and opened the top. Underneath some neatly-placed tissue paper laid a beautiful dress; a blue and grey corset design with flower petals scattered in an organized pattern.

Beneath the dress sat a small piece of parchment; a note written in elegant handwriting.

I thought this gown was quite lovely, very much to your taste dear. The blue would go wonderfully with your eyes as well. ; )

I smiled at the gorgeous dress and folded it neatly back into the box. Though the holidays approached, our professors began to pile our workloads (specifically Snape). I basically lived in the library at this point.

Hermione and Flora were a great help when it came to 'studying', or in Ron, Dina, Harry, Theo, Blaise, and my case: copying their work word for word. Even if they wouldn't allow us to, we always seemed to find a way.

Off the topic of school work, the ball was only a few days away and I still have yet to find a date. It wasn't like nobody had asked me, I was just... waiting for someone. Someone who was confusing me to no end and failing to take any of my hints... or didn't want to.

So far I had been asked by a few Slytherins; including Theodore, who made a bloody fool out of himself in the process. We had a good laugh after his attempt to swoon me. He wrote a whole poem and read it to me out loud, but halfway through the grand speech he burst out into a fit of laughter; joined by me, Blaise, and Dina.

A kind Gryffindor by the name of Dean Thomas asked me, but I politely declined. Though he seemed like a sweet boy, I would love to get to know him more. A few Durmstrang boys had asked me as well but I'm very certain their skulls are just as thick as their biceps, and I've never been attracted to the daft ones.

I sit underneath a large tree in the center of the courtyard as I study for yet another exam in potions. A loud 'thump' sounds from beside me. I tear my eyes away from my textbook and see a medium-sized book bag sitting next to me, followed by a boy with brown hair and grey eyes with a small glint within them.

"Cedric, how are you?" I smile warmly. "I'm very good Purity, you?" he questions, placing an arm around my shoulder. I chuckle, "I'm good, just studying for exams." I sigh. "Ah, Snape's never been one to lay it light around the holidays. He's probably so lonely that he wants to make everyone else suffer as an attempt to cheer himself up." he jokes. "Someone should get him a present for Christmas. You know, a new potions book, or some shampoo." I bantered. He chuckles, "Hey, Pure evil?"

"Yes, Ced?" I look up at the boy who portrays a toothy smile on his handsome face. "I was wondering, seeing as you don't have a date to the ball yet, and I don't have a date to the ball if you wanted to go together? As friends of course." He asked. I sigh, "I would love to but-" "But... that twat hasn't asked you yet, I know." he rolls his eyes. "W-what? Who are you-" "Oh come on Purity I know you have feelings for Malfoy."

I huff and he squeezes my shoulder with his large hand. "Look, love, I've known you since you couldn't speak, you don't think I'd know your tells?" he chuckles. "Okay fine you insulant twat I'm waiting for him to ask me. But he seems to be too busy being a stubborn little brat and bullying first years to even acknowledge me."
