Hamzah came out of the bathroom and went to grab his keys. I slipped my phone into my pocket and stood up, walking over.

"Ready?" He asked. I smiled and held his arm as we left the apartment.

I smiled as he helped me out of the car and we walked to the restaurant. It was a small Italian restraunt with only a couple people inside as I could see through the window. The cold wind bit my nose as my face flushed red. Hamzah held the door open for me as the small bell chimed and we walked in. A short man greeted us at the desk and quickly showed us to a table. Jazzy Italian music played quietly in the background as quiet conversations drifted through the room. We sat at a small table near the back, where a mural of a city in Italy was painted on the wall. The man handed us menus and left.

"This place is nice," I said, looking around. Hamzah nodded.

"I used to always go here for my birthday," He said. I smiled. We chatted about randal things for a couple minutes before the waiter came back to give us the little bread basket and take our orders. I ordered spaghetti marinara and Hamzah got some sort of ravioli. We talked while we waited for our food.

"Do you think we'll hang out more often?" I asked. Hamzah thought.

"Yeah. I'll come over to your house and you come to mine. Not every weekend but at least once a month," He said. I giggled.

"Of course."

We kept chatting until the waiter came over with our food. We thanked him and dug in.

After a while, Hamzah had to go the bathroom and left me at the table. I didn't mind, because we had done more eating than talking. He had left his phone face up on the table.

Bzzz

Hamzahs phone quietly chimed. I am all for trust, and would never invade his privacy. The phone was lit up with a single text. I tried to pry my eyes away from it, but couldn't help to glance at the shining screen.

Michelle: 1 New message

I frowned. Michelle? That wasn't his mom or sisters name I don't think. I thought. It could just be a friend? I'd never heard of her. Probably just a childhood friend. I decided on this and stopped thinking about it. I went back to eating. A couple seconds later, Hamzahs footsteps made me look up. He smiled as he sat back down.

"Their soap smells really good," He said. I laughed.

We finished our food, and the waiter had come over with the check. I offered to pay but Hamzah beat me to it.

"I owe you icecream tonight," I said.

"Fine," He laughed. I smiled as we got up and left the restaurant.

The ride home we sat in a comfortable silence. He pulled into the driveway and we hopped out of the car.

"I'm tired," I said. Hamzah smiled.

"Same."

He held his door open for me and we walked inside. I fell onto the couch, groaning dramatically and putting my hand on my forehead. Hamzah took off his jacket and went to the fridge.

"How are you hungry already?" I asked. Hamzah laughed at me.

"My stomach is a bottomless pit."

We were both in pajamas, lying on the couch. We were watching the Grinch. The sky was dark against the bright TV. I felt my eyes slowly drifting shut, until they closed completely. I felt Hamzah kiss me softly on the forehead as I fell asleep.
