I woke up to music blasting. The couch was cold and my legs had cramped, being stuck under me for the whole night. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, which were dry and hurt from crying last night. I covered my ears with my hands and groggily looked around for the source of the music. Susan was dancing around the kitchen with a spatula, laughing.

"YOURE FINALLY UP! IM MAKING PANCAKES!" She yelled over the deafening music. I moaned and fell back down, covering my face with the pillow. It was Monday, which means I had school. Turning my head and pulling off the pillow, I could tell by the clock that it was early, and the light blue glow of the morning sky reflected on the glass of the window. I stepped of the couch, the fuzzy carpet under the coffee table warm against my feet. I trudged to the kitchen island and sat on a barstool. A sweet smell filled my nose.

"What is that smell?"  I asked, scrunching my nose. Susan spun around, looking guilty yet excited.

"Ok so like - I like - you know how like - ok so I did an experiment," She said. I looked up at her.

"What kind of experiment?" I asked. She grinned.

"Brownie pancakes!" She said, doing jazz hands with the spatula in her hand. She turned back around to the stove and flipped a pancake. I giggled.

"Doesn't sound healthy, but sounds delicious." I said.

The rest of the morning was great. We ate the pancakes which were surprisingly good, and got out the door and to school right as the bell rung. I was sitting at the usual table at lunch. I grabbed my bag. My stomach felt uneasy as I pulled out my phone. I remembered Hamzah. I went to tiktok, and went through my notifications. Thankfully, he hadn't told anyone, and it seemed as if everyone still thought we were together. I felt guilty again, wanting to call him then and there. I glanced up at my friends, who were busy talking with each other. I quietly slipped away to the bathroom.

Once I got into a stall and locked it, I pulled out my phone again. I paced the small floor. Thank god there was no one else in here. I went to my contacts and bit my lip. I was pathetic, calling him the day after I broke up with him to tell him I was wrong. But I didn't care. I still loved him. I quickly hit the call button and pressed the phone to my ear, biting my fingernail. The phone rung as I waited impatiently for him to pick up.

"Hello?" I heard him ask on the other line. My stomach did flips and my mouth went dry.

"Aurora?" He asked. I cleared my throat.

"Um, hi," I said. I sat down on the seat of the toilet.

"What's up?" He asked. My heart pounded. I took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry. About yesterday. I- I wasn't thinking and I believe you." I rambled.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. I heard him go silent on the other line.

"Hamzah?" I asked.

"I forgive you," He said. I closed my eyes in relief and let out a breath of relief.

"But.. I don't know if we should get back together," He said. My heart dropped. Although I felt awful, I understood.

"Um, yeah. Fine with me." I said, biting my lip to keep from crying. I mentally cursed myself
for saying something so stupid.

"Ok well, talk to you later I guess," He said. I felt a warm tear run down my cheek.

"See you," I said, my voice cracking. I hung up before he could say anything. I pulled my legs up to my chest, ignoring how gross the toilet seat was under me. I hid my head in my knees, and let the tears spill out.

By some miracle, I had been able to clear my face and make it look much less noticeable that I was crying as the bell rung for class. I sniffed one last time, attempting to put all thoughts of him out of my head. I sighed and grabbed my bag, heading to class.

The school day dragged on for what felt like years until I was finally dismissed. I practically grabbed Susan out of the hallway as we went to my car. I got in quickly and started the engine, buckling up. She got in the passenger seat and buckled, but noticed my flurried state. I felt her arm touch mine and I turned my head.

"What's up?" She said. I sighed.

"I called him," I said. She turned in her seat.

"And?"

"And he forgave me."

"That's great! Are you back together?" She asked. I sighed and tucked my hair behind my ear.

"He said he doesn't want to get back together." I said. My heart broke again hearing it come out of my mouth. I saw Susan shrink in her seat, frowning. I took this chance to pull out of the parking lot, and start driving home. The drive was silent, and I had a lot on my mind. I needed a distraction.

"Movie night?" I asked.

"You know it."

We got home and I pulled out my phone, falling on the couch. Susan dropped her bags and walked into the hallway.

"IM GOING TO USE THE SHOWER!" Susan yelled. I laughed.

"OK!" I pulled up Claires contact and hit the facetime. She answered almost immediately.

"Hey Aurora, long time to talk," She said. I laughed and set my phone on the coffee table, propping it up with a book.

"What've you been up to?" I asked.

"Nothing much. I'm so bored. We need to see everyone again," she said. I picked up my phone again and held it.

"About that.. Me and Hamzah.. we, well, we broke up," I said. It didn't hurt as much to say anymore after I had talked to someone about it. Claire's eyes widened.

"Why?" She asked. I laughed.

"Long story. But we're still on good terms." I said. Claire sighed.

"Thank god."

We chatted for a while after that, laughing and catching up until she had to go. I waved her goodbye and we ended the call. Perfect timing because Susan had just come out of the shower.

"Want to do a photo shoot?" She asked. I looked up at her.

"Well that was random. But you know what, sure." I said. She smiled as she unwrapped her hair out of the towel.

"Let's go to the city."

"Suz, it's a school night," I said. She laughed.

"It's only like three. We have time," she said, winking. I laughed but got up to take a shower.
