Big Machine - Goo Goo Dolls
We tied; for once we, a Thomas Victor team, were evenly matched when put against a Morgan High team.
Nobody on the two teams really seemed happy, but honestly I was just glad that we didn't lose and that I didn't see him.
It would have been too awkward for my life.
My parents told me before hand to wait for them at Morgan High; they said that around that time they'd be in the area and they would just pick me up so I said goodbye you my teammate's goodbye and sat outside the school to wait.
I saw Mr Gordon drive by.
He seemed casual.
I hope he doesn't see me, I thought.
Terence was in the backseat, focused on his phone.
Last time I'd seen him, he told me his phone had been stolen...weird.
Mr Gordon saw me and drove up to where I was sitting, it wasn't far from him. There would be no escaping him.
"Hey, what are you doing out here all by yourself? You look like you could use a ride home." As soon as he said the word 'ride' Terence's head shot up and he looked out of the window and into my eyes.
As cliché as it sounds, I think we made some sort of connection, but I'm not sure.
As I stared into his eyes they softened.
Every time I'd seen him his eyes had a hard edge to them almost like he was putting up a front, but I had broken down all his walls and I knew this because he was looking at me with a softness that I'd never known from him or anyone really.
I just could not get over his hazel eyes, they were stunning!
"Uhm, my parents are coming for me, they'll be here shortly, so according to African time, in about forty minutes." I joked.
Terence smiled a little, if you can call it a smile. The corners of his mouth rose a little, but it was nothing dramatic. Mr Gordon, on the other hand, looked concerned.
"Well I can't leave you here all by yourself, but I have a very important thing in town which is in the opposite direction from where you live I'm guessing?"
"You've guessed correctly, and for winning that round your prize is that you don't need to worry about me. I'll be fine" I smiled in an attempt to convince him, but he still looked concerned.
I was corny, but I was proud. I could make maize jealous.
I could tell by the look on his face that he was concerned, then he got an idea, it showed in his face.
He started scratching around in his satchel and got out some keys.
He handed them to Terence and said some words that I will never know. Terence nodded and then got out of the car.
Mr Gordon waved and drove way. I was confused.
Terence approached me, looks like we were stuck together.
"Ok here's the plan," he started, "My dad gave me the keys to the gate, so we can sit on the inside of the school and wait for your parents. Then when you're being dropped you parents can drop me off at my mom's house."
His voice was deep and irresistible.
What kind of puberty was he going through and why couldn't the guys at my school go through this kind of puberty? But, friends don't think about each other like this, do they? But then again I couldn't even call him my friend.
