"As you are well aware, it's time for the annual American football match with Mystic Falls High." Vardemus announces in the assembly hall and students groan
"Great." Kaleb mumbles
"Today, you will not be forced to lose a game so that humans can feel superior." Vardemus says. "Every one of you is special. Every one of you. And it's time you showed it."
Students applaud
Sadie watches, skeptical
"How?" Josie asks, standing up
"By using your powers in moderation, Ms. Saltzman." Vardemus says and Josie sits down. "The goal is not exposure, merely to win. Think of it as an exercise in control."
"Well, I am here for it. After last year, it'll feel really good to show those Timberwolves what we're all about. Right?" Kaleb says
"And who better to lead you in this endeavor, as your quarterbacks, than our very own Malivore slayers, Landon Kirby and Sarah Nightshade?" Vardemus says
Students applaud
Sadie chokes on her water, looking at Landon

SADIE: Mr Williams and Dr Saltzman had exempt me from football matches against humans, just in case. And besides, I haven't actually played in years so I don't actually remember how to play
"See, the thing is..." Sadie tells Vardemus out on the field in her yellow and blue with black streaks of facepaint on her cheeks. "I'm not allowed to play cause of my--"
"Don't care." Vardemus simply says. "Go over there and practice."
Sadie walks away
"What a jackass." She huffs
She joins Landon and Josie
Landon misses the ball thrown to him ....well it was more like tossed to him
"You're actually gonna be able to carry the team, right?" Sadie says, stopping by the two. "Cause technically I'm not allowed to play but Mr Vardem-ass doesn't seem to care. He wants you starting and me in the field."
"I'm a total fraud." Landon huffs. "Now the whole school's gonna see it, and this is a total disaster."
"I told you, I'm really good at taking care of people." Josie says. "We're gonna get through this."
"How?" Landon asks. "I can't even throw."
"Yes, you can. You just need a little help." Josie says
Josie grabs Landon's hands and chants a spell
"What'd you just do?" Landon asks
"See for yourself." Josie says, handing Landon the football
Landon throws the ball and it shoots far and perfect
"Woah." Sadie whispers as the three watch the ball soar through the air
The ball hits the bus that had just stopped
Landon looks shocked
"Impressive." Sadie says, taking a sip of her water
The Mystic Falls team steps off the bus
The red haired girl steps off
Sadie chokes on her water, nudging Landon with her elbow
