At this point I was very happy that I was the athletic twin. I was quick and strong, and that sounded like it would come in handy. He motioned for me to stand but as I did a hand grabbed my arm.
"Don't- don't get hurt." Malfoy said under his breath, like he didn't want anyone else to know.
I nodded a little bit and Draco stood up with me.
"The first test... capture the Gryffindor house flag from their common room." Blaise said and my eyes went wide. "Don't get caught."
I looked at Draco but couldn't quite read his expression. "What happens if I fail?" I whispered.
"No one who doesn't pass makes it past the first semester. You either leave out of shame... or d-die in initiation." He whispered and my face dropped.
"What?!" I whisper-yelled. "Oh hell no!"
I turn on my heels and stomp out of there to the Gryffindor hall. There was no way I was getting kicked out and back under the stairs. When I reached the door I didn't know the password, and the spell for the lock didn't work.
"Fuck." I whispered, but deep down I knew it wasn't that easy. I peeked through the stained glass windows and saw the flag in their common room. I then turned my head and saw a window that was open for cool air.
Getting an idea I smiled and started running back to the Slytherin common room. On my way I double checked for my wand and started running faster.
"Given up already Potter?" Malfoy sneered and I glared at him.
I walked up to the window, hitting shoulders with him on the way, and pushed it open.
"What the hell are you doing?" He asked but before he could do anything I stepped out the window. "Lillian!"
I felt someone grabbing my robe but that wasn't what was holding me up. I had whispered a spell on my way and made the ledge by the windows widen, almost like a path, around the school. It was simple, really, and a spell from my second year books, but apparently no one else thought of it because they all screamed when I jumped.
"Aww, was Malfoy scared?" I teased.
He hadn't let go of my robe yet. I saw him let out a breath once he saw the path and his iron grip on the fabric was let up.
"I swear Potter. Don't ever do something so stupid again." He breathed out.
I smirked and turned back around. "Maybe. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a flag to go get."
I took the path to the Gryffindor's window and after checking for people, I jumped inside and started running. I grabbed the flag and jumped back out the window before I could even breathe again.
"A flag, as requested." I smiled as I hopped back into the window.
I swear I saw Malfoy smile but that was quickly covered with his cold glare.
"Good job Potter!" Blaise yelled and hugged me. Again, I swear I saw Malfoy clench his jaw and glare at Blaise. "Now, its time for the mental test."
I sat down in the chair and Blaise looked me in the eyes, trying to find something. "Here, we are a family. We tell each other everything. So Potter... tell us your secret. Your deepest, darkest secret."
I went silent for a minute, thinking. I knew it, I knew it exactly, but I can't tell them. I can't even admit it to myself, how can I admit it to a room full of strangers?
"I-" I started but couldn't finish. "I can't." I whispered.
"Lillian, I know it's hard to do, but we've all done it. If you don't we can't accept you... its the rules." Blaise explained and I looked down at my hands.
"I'm scared of myself." I whispered. "There's something... dark about me. And I don't know how to control it." Once I finally got the courage to look up, I saw Malfoy looking at me with sad eyes.
"It's ok Potter. I know we are the 'scary' house and the 'mean' house, but we are a family. That's why we have this initiation. We will help you." Blaise explained and I smiled a little. "Are you ready for the final test?"
I nodded. If I could admit that to them, but more importantly myself, I could do anything.
"This test will be a five minute round of fighting. You will battle our most talented student, Mr. Malfoy. If you can survive the battle and not tap out, you are a part of Slytherin. If not, you fail."
I gulped but knew deep down I could do this. I was strong. I was fast. I just had to find his weak point.
"What if he taps out first?" I asked and Draco chuckled.
"We'll see about that." He smirked and walked out into the middle of the floor.
We both drew out our wands and he tilted his head. I smirked at him.
"Go!" Blaise yelled
