"Damon!", I pulled him back next to me before he made his way up the extraordinarily, beautiful mansion steps, "I really don't want to be here. This just isn't my thing", I pleaded.

He rolled his eyes at me once again, which was starting to become a predictable thing, whenever I was with him, "You're going to love it", his eyes dilated and like earlier, I believed him.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go have some fun", I grinned, and pulled him up the steps behind me.

I paused at the front door and looked down at myself, self consciously. Damon had brought me a beautiful red ballroom gown that had sequins wrapped around the stomach area, and ruffles that fell elegantly to the floor.

Damon noticed this and stepped closer up behind me, "You look beautiful. You are beautiful", he whispered in my ear and we both stepped past the threshold of the mansion.

It was amazing. It felt like I had been transported through time and was in fact attending an 18th century party instead. There was dancing and music and everything around me felt elegant, even the atmosphere had a certain vibe that surrounded me.

"Ashley?", Elena came up beside me, but her questioning glare was directed at Damon, "What is she is doing here, Damon?"

"She's here with me", he smugly replied, and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"She can't be dragged into all of this. What are you playing at?"

"She is right here", I waved.

"That's right. Why don't you go get us both a drink, hmm?", Damon's eyebrows raised, whilst he smirked.

"Such a gentleman", I muttered sarcastically, and walked off to the bar.

"Ashley?", a deep voice approached from behind me.

I turned to see Matt Donovan, all dressed up in a suit. He looked fine.

"Matt? Hey."

"Hi... Erm. What are you doing here?"

"What? Is it so hard to believe that I was invited?", I chuckled.

"No. I just didn't realise you knew the Mikaelsons", he nervously scratched the back of his neck.

"Oh, no. I don't. I came here with Damon Salvatore", I turned to the bar, and signalled to be served.

"Wait. Damon?"

"Yeah. He insisted I came to this stupid ball", once the bartender came to serve me, I tried my look and asked for a white wine for myself. Somehow he believed I was old enough, and complied, but then I realised I didn't have a clue what Damon drank, "And a erm..."

"A glass of bourbon, please", Matt smiled when he saw my questioning glance, "Damon always orders that at The Grill. Your welcome. And be careful around him. He's a douche", and then he turned to walk off.

Damon must have made a bad impression on half the town already. I hadn't heard anybody say a good word about him yet. He didn't seem so bad to me, though.

I picked up the drinks, and carefully turned to make my way back to the Salvatore brother, only to have the glass of bourbon taken out of my hands, fast.

"Excuse me...?", I trailed off, as my eyes locked with the most beautiful set of blue eyes I had ever seen.

He had dirty blonde hair that curled slightly at the ends. He had a delicate yet masculine face, and his pale skin was flawless. He was downright beautiful. His lips curled up into a smirk -much like a Salvatore brother I know. He raised the glass to his mouth and took a sip.

"I don't believe we've met. I'm Klaus Mikaelson."

"Ashley Brinn", I almost whispered. Wait. Did he say Mikaelson? This must be his party then.

"Damon Salvatore", Damon butted in sarcastically, "And I do believe, that is my bourbon you are drinking there", he snatched his drink back, and his smirk never left his face. However, this was different from his usual smirk, this was more forced.

There was a sudden tension between them, and I felt the need to say something.

"This is a beautiful party", I looked around the room, admiring it.

"Not as beautiful as you are", Klaus spoke in his thick british accent.

I blushed at this and Damon screwed his face up, "I'm sorry. Did I interrupt you seducing my date for tonight?"

"Date?", Klaus looked over at me, as if to confirm what he just said.

I nodded my head once, "Not willingly, either", I glared at Damon but he was too busy throwing dagger eyes at Klaus.

Klaus chuckled at this and held his arm out to me, "Well, would you willingly accept a dance with me, Ashley Brinn?"

"I would love to", I smiled. Entranced by this man, I wrapped my hand around his strong arm and he smoothly pulled me onto the dance floor. Although, not before sending Damon one last smug glance.

"Try not to hog my date all night", Damon's hard eyes never left us, as we stood in the middle of the room.

The song 'Kiss me' by Ed Sheeran filled the room and all the couples on the floor began dancing. It was a very old dance so I had no idea what I was doing and by the look of Klaus' face, he knew.

He dipped his head down next to mine and whispered in my ear, "Just follow my lead."

My eyes darted down to his feet, and I focused on the steps he was taking.

"You're getting the hang of it, sweetheart", he grinned a dimpled smile, "But I'm afraid we have to switch now."

He suddenly spun me around, and I ended up in the arms of another strikingly handsome guy. Wow! Why was every guy here so damn good looking?

"Well, helloo. Aren't you a stunner?", he grinned and pulled me in closer, "Now, why haven't I seen you around before?"

"You must be new. I've lived here my whole life", I smiled and pulled back a little so there was space between us.

"Did any of my siblings invite you here? Let me guess. Klaus?"

Another Mikaelson? I thought.

"No. Actually, Damon Salvatore did."

"Damon?", he said his name like he ate a sour sweet.

"Yeah. Do you know him?"

"Yes, unfortunately. A woman of your caliber ought to choose more suitable company. What's your name, love?"

For some reason, it really annoyed me how everybody hated on Damon. He had been a good guy to me so far, so I felt the need to stand up for him, even though I hadn't known him that long at all.

"None of your business", I replied.

"Feisty. However, this is my party which happens to be in my house so therefore, whatever is in it, is my business. So, Let's try that again. I'll start. I'm Kol."

"Ashley", I bluntly replied. I don't know why but I got a very bad vibe from this guy. I didn't feel safe around him.

Finally, the song had ended and I hurried off the floor, away from him.
