i was scared of falling,
especially when I'd only just found
the strength to barely limp
on my own
yet when you came into my life
i fell for you without even
a second thought
perhaps it was the way
you made me forget even my name
every single time you smiled at me
perhaps it was the way
you fueled the flame in me
that I'd long since abandoned
but there was something about you
that gave me the will to live
to wake up the next morning
because I knew
you'd be the first and only thing
on my mind
my love, every second i spent away from you felt like
a million needles jabbing at me
from within
and every second together
felt like
a million suns burning in my chest
you set me free, on fire
you showed me love
you showed me
that an eternity is too short of a time
to spend with you
forever wouldn't ever
be enough.
but you also showed me
that even the brightest of flames
would one day die out
perhaps forever
was too much to wish for
when you'd been my everything
i had never been enough for you
thank you for showing me
that with soul consuming love
comes the hardest goodbyes.
