jennie feels cold and she can't do anything about it. she sits with poise (as she always does) but this time there's something different about her.
it's probably her two-toned hair, bangs dyed into blonde streaks while the rest remains natural. or it must be her attire. suited in a crop cardigan top and a matching high waisted mini skirt that is from doll kill's fuzzy set, topped with jentle monster's daisy 02. or it's the fact that she hasn't greeted back nor gave a smile to acknowledge her admirers all around the court. she kept her gaze intact at the front, or roaming at her attire's details.
her eyes scans kim hanbin's figure as he's being scolded by mr. nam, snorting quietly as she thinks to herself, serves him right. she scrolls through her social media apps and whines to her gals by imessage while she waits for the opening ceremony. she doubts she will take back what she said as she remembers this is when the players will be called scholars if they performed satisfactorily to the judges. in short, their future is at stake.
"hmm...should i wish him good luck?" jennie leans her chin against her palm with a small visible pout, scrolling further. she texts him a 'break a leg.'
she looks up to check if hanbin has read her text, but it's not like he keeps his phone close to him. jennie rolls her eyes at the realization.
"hmm...nevermind..." jennie mutters to herself as she locks her phone with a sigh. there's a booming laughter from a distance and jennie literally froze. it took her a few seconds to unfreeze her state and steal a glance to check if it's really her.
jennie widens her eyes like a deer caught in headlights, turns the back of her head to her direction to block her face. the murmurs of the crowd resurfaced, ringing her sense of hearing, and curses them for paying attention to her.
STOP STARING!
she stands up abruptly with a huff, smooths down her dolls kill's casual fuzzy set, before heading to the court to where kim hanbin is.
"hi!" she chirps, setting aside her pride just to throw her aggravation out the bus. and that she needs to deprive her senses from you-know-who.
the things i'd do to get over you.
hanbin stares at her then leaves her standing dumbly with his unsteady breathing. "hanbin..." she trails off, following his whereabouts. she stares at him as he drinks in his hydro flask, waiting, as he flaunts his disinterest to jennie.
"come on, hanbin, don't ignore me now." jennie pouts as she secretly searches for thai eyes.
oh, she's not looking. she snaps out of it.
"what do you even want?!" he growls. jennie is startled with this new side of him but doesn't bother to show it. he takes a gulp. "sorry–"
the crowd gasps. jennie rolls her eyes internally.
"that was supposed to go on the cheek!" she giggles. she takes hanbin's short-circuited moment to kiss him on the cheek, to where she intended, smiles cheekily as if she's found somebody else to use her time with. or her heart with. or her mind with. but she definitely is sure this somebody doesn't look like her. or laugh like her. or tease like her.
"break a leg, kim hanbin. but this doesn't mean we're settled." her icy words left a shudder from hanbin, and when she looks back to see his confounded face, she winks.
i hope people bought it.
jennie hoped she bought it.
she returns back to her seat, still showing hanbin interest by watching him talk to the other players, just to make a lasting effect from her (useless) stunt a while back. she releases a small sigh and goes back to her phone.
