"flashing back to incheon city..."
roseanne park chaeyoung whispers the lyrics under her breath as she dries her not-so wet hair from the shower she took a few seconds ago, whilst she entertains herself with a random playlist she picked on spotify.
"wait a sec!" she shouted through the loud speakers a few seconds after her bell buzzed and wrapped her black hair in her plum-colored towel before she opened the door. she was so engrossed with the previous steamy bath that her mind forgot jennie for a moment.
'problem was i thought i had this right.'
the korean didn't know if the long sigh she wanted to release was due to torment or relief, but she's certain of one thing: for lalisa.
chaeyoung almost fell back when lalisa knocked her out with an embrace, a whiff of baby powder overtook her stirring emotions to act upon it. she pulled away before she inhaled too much of her print. "what are you doing here?" she half-exclaimed, practically glaring due to the fact that she ruined a self-care day. she only gets to do this rarely for christ's sake!
"seulgi is out and so are the rest of the girls and you're the next person on my list so..."
a thought echoed inside chaeyoung's head but she didn't let it linger.
"make yourself at home then but pretend you don't exist because it's a ME day!" chaeyoung gives lisa looks that could kill...lisa raised her arms and slowly backed away. chae turned then proceeded with her night routine. "preparing for night routine when it's 12 a. m. in the morning," lisa makes a clicking sound with the use of her tongue that got chae rolling her eyes and screaming, "YOU DO NOT EXIST REMEMBER?!"
lisa raised her arms and slowly backed away.
after an hour, they're so close yet so far away from each other in chaeyoung's bed. lisa vividly remembers the synthesis of their scents together that used to calm her down. lisa vaguely remembers why the feel of chaeyoung's sheets irritated her. (the latter's a lie).
"how was school?" chaeyoung breaks the silence (as she always does) and lisa feels her slipping away.
"exhausting. we're graduating, finally," lisa exhales as if she's ran a marathon, "i'm going back home!" there's a tiny squeal of excitement that had chaeyoung look into lisa, and she thinks moonlight has always looked good on her.
"finally...i miss melbourne." chaeyoung exhales like she's ran a marathon, too. she silently manifested for better days and peaceful nights. "we haven't found time for each other lately"
"yeah...busy. really busy."
"i heard you quit dance troupe" it was kinda lonely without you. lisa purses her lips and chews on her bottom, getting flabbergasted by the amount of uneasy silence and the mementos inside this room. lisa thinks when her and jennie are best with just the two of them, she and chaeyoung are best with the rest of the crowd. being together after everything that has happened is too raw...too gauche...too pernicious.
lisa made another wrong decision today.
"i did, it was - i was too busy," chaeyoung reasons, half-truthfully. it's not like she owes lisa an explanation, let alone an honest one. right?
"and jaehyun? have you contacted him?" lisa knew too much of chaeyoung, maybe that's why she can't help but to care about her up till this day.
the more chaeyoung shifts in her side of bed, the more lisa feels her slipping away. the thai is dejected every time she looks at the other side of the bed, or the rest of the room, invoking old times thus keeping her eyes glued onto the ceiling. she reminds herself to let go because she doesn't have the right to be this wrecked.
