Chapter 4

When Jess and Calvin were hanging out, Brer Rabbit approached them.

"Calvin! Dere ya is. I just wants ya ter know dat I has an idea" he said.

"What's that, little rabbit buddy?" said Calvin.

"Well... if you can get dat many good reviews on Brer Bear's silly short film, you'll get even mo' if you gives me a music video. It could jump start yo music career" said Brer Rabbit.

"Cool! I've never had a music career. You really think you can do that?" said Calvin.

"Cal, I's a pretty good promoter. Once, at my school, I made Molly de Rabbit de homecomin queen. And she was one o' de least popula' rabbits in de school" said Brer Rabbit.

"Wow! In that case, I'm in! Let's do this" said Calvin high-fiving Brer Rabbit.

"Great! I knew you'd be up for it" said Brer Rabbit.

"Calvin! I'm so happy for you! You could be a guitarist just like Uncle Murray!" said Jess.

"Maybe I could" Calvin responded.

"You so deserve this. And... Calvin... I must admit. I like you" said Jess.

Calvin stood there in shock for a few seconds before finally responding with "Thanks."

"Thanks?" said Jess.

"Up top" said Calvin offering her a high-five. 

Jess awkwardly returned the high-five before Calvin left.

"Did I just tell Calvin I liked him and he high-fived me?" Jess asked.

"Yup. If ya had a problem wit it, ya shoulda left him hangin" said Brer Rabbit.

"Jess. There you are. Uncle Remus is gonna take us canoeing. Wanna come?" said Anthony.

"Thanks, Wiggles, but I'm not in the mood" said Jess before running away in tears.

"Brer Rabbit? What's the matter with my niece?" said Murray.

"She upset 'cause Calvin didn't respond ter her affection de way she expected" said Brer Rabbit.

"Jess is in love with Calvin?" said Jeff.

"I tink so." said Brer Rabbit.

"Well, that's great" said Greg.

"But for now, we may need to go canoeing without her" said Anthony.

"Sure. Oh, Murray! Calvin's decided dat he gon' make me a music video. An' he gon' play guitar yo style" said Brer Rabbit.

"That's wonderful, Brer Rabbit! I'd enjoy that" said Murray.

"We look forward to seeing it" said Greg.

"I's glad. And I can promise y'all dat Calvin'll be huge once dis goes ter de critics" said Brer Rabbit.
