Time and Setting – HEP vs Mycelium War, could be seen as a prequal to Caught

Focus Character(s) – Zedaph, Tango, Cub, Impulse, Grian, Etho

Ship(s) – Could be taken as Zedpulse, otherwise n/a

Trigger/Content Warnings – Human experimentation, mild body horror, mild torture, needles

Background – Zedaph gets himself into a bit of trouble when he turns down Scar's demand for him to join the HEP. He doesn't remember this argument, but Scar does.

Blinding light.

Where is he?

The walls were bright. Brighter than his eyes can adjust to. A blinding white colour.

He can't move. He's strapped to a table.

Why? Who took him?

He doesn't know what he was last doing, or who he was last talking to. His head hurts, but he doesn't know why.

Footsteps.

Someone's near.

Good news, right?

It's Cub.

Cub and Tango.

Tango's bleeding. He has a cut on his cheek.

Tango looks upset.

He wants to help Tango, but he can't move.

Cub's gone out of Zedaph's sight.

Something's happening now. Something's brushing over his stomach. His shirt fabric's being cut away, he realises in horror.

He asks for Cub to stop. Cub stops cutting up his shirt with a knife, only to stab the knife into Zedaph's stomach, twisting it around.

Zedaph screams and screams as Cub stabs him again, and then he sees Tango start to move.

His eyes are blurry.

He can't see properly.

Is he crying?

Zedaph's crying.

Tango's gone now.

When he comes back, Cub removes his knife from Zed's stomach. Tango whispers something, before focusing on Zed's arm.

Tango has a needle in his hand. There's some fort of liquid or powder in there.

Zedaph vaguely wonders what it is, before he feels the prick of the needle against his wrist, sliding into him quite quickly.

Zed lets out a sob as Tango injects him with the liquid in the needle, before taking it away, soothing Zed with his gentle words that Zed can't hear clearly and soothing touches.

Cub says something, and laughs, while Tango looks uncomfortable.

Tango would later speak against this, Zedaph hoped.

Cub and Tango walk back over to Zedaph then, and Cub walks behind Zed's head. He feels a sharp prick in his neck, and when he strains to look, he sees another needle in Tango's hand. Tango looks guilty, and Zed starts to sob when his head pounds and aches and burns.
