"Oh...hi Hunk"
Is that his REAL name? Or is it just like a nickname that stuck so now everyone calls him that? But that wouldn't make sense because he introduced himself as 'Hunk'
Maybe his mother thought he if she called him Hunk he would grow up and become a hunk...No that's just stupid, don't think that
"And what about you?" He asked her, knocking her out of her thoughts.
" uh ... sorry I didn't hear that can you repeat what you just said?"
He chuckled before repeating his question "And what is your name?"
"Oh my name is Shay." She said trying to look confident, while her insides are freaking out ...trying to figure out what emotion to feel, the bats going crazy again. Nerves?
"Well nice to meet you Shay." He smiled so brightly he could rival the sun itself.
"Which school do you attend? Where did you live before you moved here? You don't have to answer if you don't want to, I'll stop prying, I just thought that I'd get to know you since were neighbors now."He seemed flustered now.
"No no, it's fine. I don't mind the questions." She quickly reassured him. "I attended Voltron High, before this I lived in a small town named Balmera."
"NO WAY! Me too!.....I-I mean I go to the same school as you."
She couldn't think of a reply so she settled for a small nod.
"I should probably go inside and finish my homework"
She turned to run towards her room "Hey! Wait, you forgot the cookies I baked for you." He called after her.
Her face turned red from embarrassment and she awkwardly shuffled towards him and took the plate. "Thank you Hunk."
Again he smiled his sunshine smile "No problem, I hope I see you at school."
"Yeah...that would be nice."
She came into her room and hid the cookies in one of her drawers from her brother and nosy grandmother.
I'll try one later...that definitely smell like heaven.
At the dinner table her grandmother tried to get as much details about the school day as possible.
"I already told you school was good and nothing bad happened neither did anything good happen.....exactly like school should be."
Shay mumbled the last part hoping her mother couldn't hear it.
"Yeah but that doesn't describe how school was."
Her brother said rolling his eyes "It was your first day of school, of course we're going to be curious about it."
"Did you make any new friends? What was the teachers like?" Her mother grinned knowing that Shay always hates the teachers.
They always stick their nose in everyone's business and think they can "help the children" with their problems when all they should do is just stay away and keep their damn opinions to themselves.
"Did anyone catch your eye?" Her grandmother tried again, wiggling her eyebrows at Shay.
Shay blushed, thinking about how sweet Hunk was today. Then she shrugged it off "Yeah right, like that is ever gonna happen. Guys don't notice me...Ever."
Her mother reached over and put her hand over Shay's "You are beautiful and don't let anyone tell you different."
Shay grinned "and if they do I'll simply call grandmother to come and beat them up."
"Count me in!" Her brother exclaimed
————————————
"Would you shut up!!!" Shay yelled at her alarm on the nightstand.
She pulled the covers over her head to try and block out the noise but to no avail.
Shay groaned as she literally rolled out of bed onto the floor.
As she rushed to get ready for school she tripped over something in her doorway and crashed into the hallway, Shay had just enough time to use her arms to shied her face from their extremely hard hallway floor.
Getting up she glared at the bag that she left in the doorway yesterday.
"Stupid bag" She mumbled kicking the bag into her room.
At school Shay kept her eyes on the ground to ensure that she does not make eye contact with anybody.
But of course things won't go 100% smooth. What was she expecting? Things never do.
She bump into someone causing both of them to fall back because of the impact. While scrambling to gather their books they bump heads.
"Oh my goodness this is so embarrassing, I am so sorry, I'm really so so sorry" Shay apologized rubbing her forehead "I am such a klutz"
"Hey it was my fault too you know, if I was looking where I was going I would not have bumped into you. But I am glad I did otherwise I probably would not have seen you here at school today."
What de heck is he talking about? She removed her hands from her face and saw a smiling Hunk in front of her.
"Of course it's you." The one and only prince of optimism.
"Wha...aren't you glad to see me again? If you aren't then I'm terribly sorry, I'll leave now." He started to awkwardly walk away.
"Wait!" Shay grabbed his wrist to stop him. When she realized what she had done she quickly dropped his arm and put her hands behind her back.
"Yes?"
"I-I uh I was just wondering if you would help me around. You see, yesterday and as my first day and I don't know my way around the school yet."
What are you doing?! You can't just ask him to show you around! He probably has friends waiting for him and now your holding him up. No! Apologize. Right. Now
Shay was about to apologize but Hunk answered her before she could blurt put her apology.
"Sure! In fact, I would be honored. When I came here the first time it took me like, two weeks to figure everything out."
"T-thank you." She mumbled.
He smiled brightly and held out his arm for her. "No problem"
She hooked her arm in his as he began to walk.
Maybe school won't be THAT bad anymore, I've got the sun right next to me to brighten things up.
